Did Dalton play himself into a starter contract?

sorry, have you read Poppy dog and Khiladi and catch17 (who changed his tune once he was called out) and how they were groveling over Dalton. there are plenty here who are beating the drums on Dalton and throwing accolades at him, so there are a LOT OF PEOPLE ON THIS MESSAGE board who admire Dalton.... not making stuff up. just throwing facts at the worshipers hoping they wake up....
p.s. if I am called a Dak Lover and Worshiper, because I don't just criticize him to no end, makes me a worshiper, then I can call them worshipers...eye for an eye :))

yes, we are playing the teams on the schedule. but if you ignore the facts, then you end up with the wrong conclusions and make the wrong decisions..... teams are worse than us. if we beat them. they are 4-11 so a lot of teams beat them. they are picking in the top 5 and top 10, so yes, they are bad....don't try to spin it.....

and so what? I look at the schedule, we we beat, how we beat them, how the games transpired....beating a bunch of 4-11 teams on the schedule will get you wins, but does it mean you are a good team. you have to be good to go to playoffs and succeed. bad teams don't succeed in the playoffs. Playoffs is not the consolation prize I am looking for my team to earn and for me to hang my hat and banner that we won the worst division in football....

when you take context into the equation you realize that we got man handled, beat up and blown away when we played average to above average teams....what do you think is going to happen in the playoffs? and if you want to hang your hat on beating some hapless teams, and declare Dalton is my QB, what do you expect to happen next year? when we start playing some good teams again? oh, you will say we saved money so I can sign FAs? whom and how many do you want to sign to compensate for a bad QB? is that a winning formula? are you planning to build the Ravens type defense to compensate for Dilfer (Dalton). is that the plan?

my argument with some of these message board guru's in claiming Dalton is our team's future and it will help us build a better team is that its assinine.....you build with your QB and you don't go cheap and you don't compromise with a 31 year old who nobody else wanted to build around.....you keep the one that is a difference maker on offense and build around him and hope the FO finds it mojo, gets lucky and hits on a few defensive draft picks....

and let me ask you, why do you get bothered if I do pile it on Dalton or even hate him. why does it matter to you? just ignore me if you like. you don't have to respond.
Whoa dude...long rant sheesh! You're just spouting a bunch of BS opinions parading as the only real true facts...in your head. You lecture us about "context" and "wrong conclusions"...while doing the exact same thing yourself. You won't see it....easy to look at others and judge them, but dnma hard to look in the mirror with the same criteria.

I'm not "bothered". I just wonder why you find it so necessary to just say "he sucks". He's a backup QB playing behind 3rd stringers and WORSE. This line got him a concussion....AFTER this line got Dak injured...and that was when they were more healthy. After a very rough season he got a shot at a playoff game.....I don't give a sheet who or how. It doesn't matter. I'm not expecting a super bowl. Just another game would be ....good. in many ways.

Pappy? He's just having fun with. You named THREEE guys (at least one likes to pull legs, and one you claim doesn't do it anymore) and act like the board is FULL of Andy worshippers. THAT...is a WRONG CONCLUSION...and misguiding you. 90% of...shall we say Andy supporters (hardly WORSHIPPERs, gawd)...think Andy wins about the same amount of games for a lot less money which can be invested in the rest of the team....while bridging the gap for the next youngster.

I'm not sure I agree that's our only option...but I get it might be ONE. I'm not gonna make up hyperbole/lies about their rationale.

I'm not gonna bother with the rest of the worthless drivel.

And...I respond as I dnam well please...when and where. If ya don't like it...take your own advice.

tell me what I said was not the truth...everything I said in my response (yes, rather long) was factual.

yes, context....matters....if you have a QB that struggles against average teams, but manages to beat 4-11 teams, that's context...if you play 4 4-11 teams...that context matters.....yes Dak went 8-8 last year, but is it all on Dak? does coaching take any culpability in this? does defense? does special teams? do other players? or is it all Dak and only Dak and nothing but Dak?

Why does it bother you if I say he sucks (because he does)....move on.....

he can read a defense unlike the other guy and knows he has to get the ball out fast because of the weak offensive line. Being able to read the defense is what we've been missing with the other guy. When the offensive line was missing one guy, read that again, one guy, everybody blamed the offensive line. Let that slow reader play behind this line and he would have been in shell shock again like a few year back against Atlanta.
Oh yea, pay DAK! Dalton is garbage and is the reason Cincinnati let him walk. By way how many times did the GIANTS sacked him holding on to the ball?

This is ridiculous. Dalton is on the downslope of his career. This is likely the best you’ll ever get from him. Sorry, it’s just not good enough.

You're right only if he was health and Dalton couldn't come to the rescue!

It'll be Stafford and a 1st round pick by the time training camp comes.

This team ended up settling for FGs instead of TDs. No doubt this would be something that would be held against Dak. As well as an game ending INT would be held against Dak in a must win game. So I guess Dalton not getting it done on the drive that matter means he hasn't played himself into a starter contract at least not with the Cowboys.

Loved Dalton’s toughness and heart. Very accurate when given time. But his history in Cincy transferred here. Not very clutch, easily spooked by pressure, and penchant for overly relying on short passes.

Would gladly bring him back as a backup QB. I’d honestly be surprised for any starting opportunities to open up for him around the league, so I think a backup role is feasible if not likely.

At the end of the day, Dalton is who Dalton is.

No hate or contempt in that, the guy shrinks when the spotlight is on him. There is 10 years of NFL evidence to support that.

He's still better than 50% of the QBs that have ever played the game, but in prime time or in playoff (even playoff-like) games, he fails to deliver.

Oh well, on to the offseason now.
