You cant draft QBs narrative

Because recently teams are running a more college style of offense and not forcing these guys to run old NFL concepts under center all game.

Not sure the “can’t draft QBs early” is an accurate narrative. I am pretty sure the narrative is drafting a QB early doesn’t guarantee success and many of them don’t turn out to be worthy of their draft position. You did a nice job if picking out some QBs who made the playoffs but then you have to toss in the Josh Rosens, Darnolds, etc. to see how many didn’t to get a better picture:

Jets probably draft Fields, which is better than what the Eagles did with Hurts,, Darnold and Wentz are comparable in that they will both find a starting role in this league.

Reality is if the Cowboys FO is stupid enough to let Dak walk or trade him(your preference) any team with a semblance of a roster and partial need at QB should be all over that.

All the ones in the playoffs and the 10-6 Dolphins have a significantly better defense. Not all about the QB. Though the Chargers got a good one in Herbert hopefully they don't keep wasting his talent.

Fields would be a dumb pick for them.

If they were picking 1 then they would have to take Lawrence.. Now I think their goal needs to be to build a team around Darnold.

Their QB's will just keep struggling if they don't have weapons and protection.

It's too early to write anyone off, but not really sure I'm feeling that, or at least willing to pay what they would want.

He didn't trust any receivers for entire games. Someone was NFL open? Check down. Non stop. If people thought Dak was too conservative in pushing the ball early in his career, Tua made Dak look like Favre.

He was still injured to start TC and he was a rook, but for a guy that was to be the #1 overall pick in 2020 back in 2019 he looked like a rookie that needs shelter.

Now Chan Gailey did call a conservative gameplan, but he had to with the way Tua was at QB. It was night and day watching Fitz vs Tua. Same talent on the field, but Fitz would actuall attempt to stretch the field. He did throw more picks, but he also allowed the offense to not be predictable.

I think they will stick with him so this is all moot, but for all the hype Tua got, that was a letdown watching him play and not really progress as the season went on

Upgrading at QB, especially while CAP controlled, is never a "dumb" thing. Ever.

Intentionally downgrading at QB, even with marginal CAP savings, is a very dumb thing.

You need to learn this stuff.

Fans are fickle. We complain about no SB wins since 1995, but Dolphins fans have a team that hasn't even been there since 1984, so you can see the frustration coming out when they gripe about Tua, just like the gripe about Dak, Zeke, Smith, etc...

Ultimately, it's the most important position in sports.

If management TRULY believes that this team is a contender right now (I would disagree), then they need to go ahead and re-sign Dak as he gives them the best chance to win TODAY. If management thinks (like I do) that this team is 2-3 years away from being in a position to win a playoff game, then they need to do everything they can to get some value out of trading Dak... sign a Dalton, Foles, Taylor, or McCoy type of guy and start drafting QB's.

As a Miami fan as well Tua was terrible at times.

Think of 2017 Dak Prescott in the second half of the season.

Their defense was the reason why they were 10-6, as they had 12-13 good games that carried the offense to the W.

If Dak's agent still wants to play hardball, I would be hoping to see the team draft a QB.

As a Miami fan, you should be outraged they played him at all. He's coming back from a gruesome hip injury and had zero off season. It made no sense he was in the game at all. Fitzpatrick was the better Qb this year. Tua needs a full off season...... that said, if Justin Fields falls to 3, I'd trade Tua .

I still think Zach Wilson is the 2nd QB taken. He's just a more advanced passer right now than Fields and just as athletic.
