And all these excuses about Dak and the defense. Dak had the SIXTH ranked scoring defense in 2018. They had the FIFTH in 2016. Not once has Dak played a full season with a bottom half of the league scoring defense. On the other hand, Andy Dalton played longer with a more trash defense and garbage blocking than Dak did in 11 games than Dak ever played in his career here in Dallas.

This idea Watson played with a better defense than Dak is a joke. ONE year, they played with the fourth rank defense, and that was on 2018, slightly better than the sixth ranked scoring defense. And that year they were FOURTH, and they were 11-5, while Dak in 2018 was looking like Quincy Carter while the defense was holding fort, until Cooper had to come and bail him out.

In 2017, the Texans were the BOTTOM RANKED scoring defense the first year Watson even started as a rookie, while Dallas was 13th. In 2019, they were the 19th ranked. And this year they were the 27th.

That’s worse than Dak ever played with his whole career here.

Keeping in mind that Deshawn Watson is under contract for the next 5 years at a cap hit average of 33 m/yr and is coming off an outstanding season on a cruddy team....

105.3 The Fan was asking its listeners the other day if they would make this trade:

  • Dallas trades 27 year old Dak Prescott (and his expected 40 m/yr for 5 years asking price) plus their 2021 1st rounder

  • Houston trades 25 year old Deshawn Watson (ave cap 33 mil for nxt 5 years)

Would you do it?
No brainer Yes

I mean Houston's cap hit would be ridiculous so it would never happen. I would also throw in a second.
Watson in my opinion is elite and he could be your franchise guy for 15 years .

Colts/Bills should be a decent opener.

Colts lead 3-0 at 4 minute mark in the 1st.

oops...wrong thread

Some say more than that, but I think it's in the 39-41 range. Guess we'll see.
We know he turned down something in the 35-37 range already.

He turned down a five-year contract. He only wanted four years. Seems kind of ridiculous now but that was the hold up.

Not sure I'd give them a 1st and 2nd...plus Dak and his salary, but I do like Watson

And if your talking about 4th quarter within 7 this year:

Watson is 55 of 71, at a whopping 77.5% with 6 TDs and 1 INT. His average is 10.4. And he got OT sacked 8 times, which is 1 time about every 8 throws.

Prescott is 22 of 36, at 61% with 0 TDs and 1 INT. His average is 4.6 yards. He got sacked 2 times, meaning 1 time per 10 throws.

So it’s pretty obvious who is more relevant when games actually aren’t blow outs. Who takes the check-down and becomes easy to defense and who doesn’t. Even the sacks seem to indicate Dak had plenty of time, while Watson is under more pressure in those situations.

This what most of the call-ins and hosts on the show said too.

It appears many in the CowboysZone disagree, which is fine and almost expected.

I was just curious

I’m assuming most who called in were Cowboys fans.

Unless it gets to the point where Watson forces his way out of Houston and they take a lesser deal than what he's worth, I wouldn't do it. Dak+1st is too much since they're similarly talented and soon to be similarly paid. Yeah Watson's a bit younger, but not enough to warrant a top 10 pick in addition to Dak. With Houston's track record I'd be aiming to get Watson plus some. I'd rather a team piss off their stud safety or DT, and swoop in to get him cheap.

I assume this mean franchise Dak then trade him. And my answer is no way. I would trade Dak to Texas for Watson and their 2nd round pick.

Watson is garbage.
Only an idiot would think that.
Count me as a no.. I might do it straight up just because Watson is younger and cheaper for now but not so much when that extension kicks in. He also just went 4-12. Blame as many other people as you like but you can't sit here and say Dak has to wear all those losses when the defense was giving up 35 points a game and then in the same breath tell me you want a guy who lost at a higher rate with a better defense on his side. That dawg won't hunt here.. The other factor for me is Dak is an ascending player. Can anyone truthfully say Watson is appreciably better than he was as a rookie? Now ask the same question about Dak.. Certainly there will be those who will say Dak isn't any better and will never get any better but those people are not logical so we have to ignore them. And for all his personnel mismanagement O'Brien was at least good at developing QBs. Dude made the playoffs with like 4 different QBs..
This speaks as someone who hasn't been paying attention to anything outside of the Cowboys, because Watson is a million times better now than he was a rookie.

Bye Dak. I’m not convinced he’ll ever be the same after that injury. That looked brutal.
