Yeah my b, I edited after I caught on. I think the gap is that "if" they are seen as franchise QBs, you're willing to continue on and spend whatever is needed. There is not that consensus with Dak that he's top 5, worthy of big money. The only justification I've seen is that his bad contract will catch up with itself due to league trends. I would re-sign Allen to what Dak wants, etc.

Brad Johnson/Trent Dilfer SB winning QBs would be let go after the SB. Dak is nowhere that bad, but more as interchangeable. Pats/Packers/Cheifs fans don't see their QB as interchangeable. Dak has one really great win against SEA in the playoffs, that's the only game I can think of that I feel Dak elevated the tea; he then went on to crap the bed the following year and missed the playoffs in the do or die game against PHI.

He's really stuck in the middle but we have to pay him top money to keep him. Causes all this tension up in here :D
Dak has quite simply overvalued himself. That's why this isn't already done. Dak should be sitting there w/ Tad determining how to spend his 110mil.

That Todd France really did get greedy here. I don't see Dak as greedy bc he's the talent, and should get the max he can. It's France that's pushing that setting the market nonsense. Dak built a freaking football field at his house, that showed his comfort in staying and developing here. I think he's changed reps, so hopefully they do a hometown type thing; JJ rarely does players wrong and all the endorsements being the DAL QB on FOX every Sunday goes a long way. I kinda get the ego thing bc of Wentz/Goff, but it is what is at this point.

No doubt that’s part of it. Agreed!

But I’d argue teams like the Packers with Rodgers , since that the basis originally of this argument , think or like their chances of returning to the SB after paying him that looking and finding another QB on a Rookie contract who has enough talent to take them to a SB.

Now if we had some data supporting that once teams release these SB caliber QB’s find another QB in draft soon after returning to SB then I think the argument would be sound.

Part of the problem is finding another good QB. And I am not arguing to not pay a SB caliber QB. Just that good QBs that are on rookie deals have an advantage.

Don’t be stupid because other teams are stupid..

Drafting QBs is the way to go.
Thats what an organized FO does, but we are talking about the Cowboys,, Jerry will throw that dough and Dak will be the highest payed gimp QB in the league.
We are building a franchise based on that ... Jaylon, Dak, etc....
Jerrys hobbies.

We’ve been saying for two years now that the Cowboys need to re-sign Dak before other QBs reset the market. You have the feeling something is going to get done this time around because I doubt Dak is going to want to bet on himself again coming off a serious injury.

Yes, he had the most but not only one. Lombardi won 5 championships with one QB. Steelers won 4 with one QB. 49ers as well.

Several teams went to multiple SB’s with same QB. Most of all they were strong contenders for an era. Which is really the measuring stick.

NFL history definitely would prove that Elite QB’s are a vital component of winning championships and remaining a consistent contender.
i can agree to point but there arent a big list of elite qbs and daks definitely not one..

however those players like Flacco, foles, Eli, Dilfer, Goff , garropolo etc etc say you can get to sb with tier 2 qb but how much do you spend on them knowing they arent elite..

If 9-7 ,starting a season 3-5 , finishing 8-8 in healthy year , and starting 1-3 lights your fires to rush and pay dak market money , well good for you. I Say the Jonses have been one of the smart owners wanting to see more proof and rather pay the Ft then be in it for 100 mil guaranteed with no way out..they 100% know what they are doi g even if it cost them more they have more of handle on the cap and contract's then fans do..

I lie Dak but can care less what market value is because Mahomes set it and not many qbs will go over that for sometime..

Daks market around be in the tier 2 range which i last checked is under 35

he was offered 33-35 many times and turned it down..

the jonses are fully aware of all this , these posts act s if they need a internet forum to remind them of the process and what was and is coming. They have been negotiating and well its hit wall every time.its 2 way street, daks not cooperating so here we are..

Dak should get what tannehill got..i realize that seems NOT Market but dont care garropolo, Goff, wentz and tenehil type deals is a CAP no matter the year or new market deals coming..daks a 30-35mil qb and thats that, how much was cousins recent extension? thats dak range.period..

Wentz got 32 mil, Goff got 27. We've offered round 33. Or more. It's not ego any more at this point, it's just pure greed. The greedy end up being unhappy.

Dak can still get 33ish. However, IMO, if he doesn't agree this time, his value will start going down. My opinion.

The only way his value will go down is if he has a down year or shows any ill effects from the injury. Mobility is a big part of his game and he’s going to have to show he still has it.

Why wouldn’t Daks contract be in Watsons neighborhood?

Watsons talent level is closer to Mahomes than to Prescott ?

Can't agree. I think his value goes down if he doesn't continue improving and the team doesn't start winning.

Dak will show up, look healthy take snaps on the field in sweats, look normal.
His agent will ask for the same deal less a year now and nothing will change.
He still holds all the cards as long as he appears healthy and gets a clean bill of health from the Dr.
