Would love to know if Jaylon came up in DC search

You just have to know Jerry is dying to be proven right on Jaylon. That he really is smarter than everyone else. That it really was bad schemes that are to blame for Jaylon’s poor play. I absolutely can see him directly asking DC candidates what there plan was to make Jaylon a star. I guarantee you he had never even thought about cutting him and admitting his mistakes

If asked specifically about players, potential coaches would likely say the player has potential, may need to work on some things, etc. but they would not say the player should be released or traded because if they did and that was not possible for either financial or management reasons, it could eliminate the coach from consideration immediately.

I mean it ain’t just Jaylon....Jaylon was a 2nd round pick...LVE was a 1st rounder....I don’t buy the narrative of him wanting to be right on Jaylon because Taco was a much higher pick and they let him go and didn’t think twice. But if this narrative was true.....seems like LVE would be the pick he would need to succeed.

I agree. Especially with other LBs rated ahead of Leighton and at the time was said to be a reach.

Jaylon on the other hand was said he might not ever play again and not only has he stayed healthy and played every game but was a probowl player. The hate he gets is just as bad as the Dak hate in a lot of ways. Difference being that Dak is top 5 at his position and Jaylon is down the list a little bit.

The only DC hire that would want Smith , is one that's so good, he can't beat Ur eleven with his ten. Because that's exactly how good you have to be with Smith playing on Ur defense.

He’s the second highest paid player on the defense and the team’s best linebacker. Of course his name came up. Just like LVE, DLaw, Gregory, Diggs, Wilson, etc.....

I agree. A few posters accused me of defending...not at all I just hold the other linebackers accountable just like we do Jaylon and the fact is as bad as Jaylon has been he rates higher than anyone of our other linebackers. But yeah Lawrence use to get this hate too until people started seeing him grade out as one of the best in the league...that talk has now whispered...funny lol.

How often do you interview with a company and tell them how bad they suck or how bad their current employees suck? Most likely he focused on how he could get the best out of what they had, what he'd do differently, etc.

I take it you've never actually interviewed for a job.

Yeah, it's not a good idea to tell a prospective employer their choice of personnel sucks...

Makes you wonder what McC said in his 12 hour interview and I'd imagine at least 3 hours were spent on the QB.

Jerry is a straight shooter. I suspect Jerry to expect the same. Who wouldn’t? Everyone wants to hear the truth and honesty.

I think pretty much every coach knows what to do in an interview with Jerry and McCarthy. These are known entities. The coaches talk amongst themselves. Not many secrets in the NFL.

If I were interviewing I would be brutally honest. Especially with Jerry. He wants the truth and honest independent evaluations and not PC.

Best question to ask Quinn: who else should I be interviewing for DC? Someone with confidence in himself would give you names. The CEO of Pixar got his start at a start-up company being the only person to respond to that question. It showed that he was confident and not afraid to surround himself with other talented people.
