People talk about dead money too much. The question should always be how much cap space are we saving.. Dead money isnt a issue if you are getting cap savings. They top 10 teams in the nfl with the most cap space have as much dead money as the bottom 10 in cap space. Dead money does not = no or little cap space.

Cutting/trading Jaylon pre June 1 would save 400K in cap.

After June 1 7.2m.

Your not taking into account the cap space his replacement would take, though. So then your paying his replacement, still paying him (dead money). So you're not really saving anything, however if you upgrade the position there is value attached to that.

Well...... yeah. Lol That kind of the point. Upgrade the position. Depending on his replacement, they would still have money left over from the savings and spend else where.

So. keep a guy on the roster who is under performing(IMO) for 9.8 cap hit, or cut him post June 1 and save 7.2m and use it wisely at any position and improve the team,.

And they would not still be paying him. The dead money is money already paid to him.
