See, it's hard to hear a 'real' argument when there are so many different versions, even from the same people. The 'real' argument (which you seem to making right now, at least, for the moment) is that he's too expensive. Except he most definitely was not too expensive when he was paid a 4th round rookie contract. And weird, I don't remember all that extra cash going towards free agents and the defense and constructing a championship calibre team.

I think that is what the problem is now, if the Jones boys couldn't do it when Dak was making rookie money, they sure as hell aren't going to be able to do it dedicating so much of the cap to him moving forward.

LOL. Just how many "generational" qb's can be in the league at one time?

I think this one is KC's to lose but, if Tom and Company win this one. He's done. Don't need the money and nothing else to prove. You can't wright this any better!:)

Ranked #1 at what????? His personal passing stats? The was 1-3 heading into his injury game......so what was he #1 at?????
No, Dak was ranked #1 at passing yards among all the QBs when he was injured. He was on pace to get 6,000 in one season, which has never been done before. Stop conflating team stats as a QB stat. The team was 1-3, not Dak as an individual.

Got to fix the "D" it was a killer. Dallas was 0-16 when scoring less that 30 points. That's just too much to ask an "O" to do. period!

Not trying to pick with you but who would you have drafted instead of those guys? LVE was all pro as a rookie. Jaylon and LVE were top 8 linebackers in 2018. Gregory was a freak of nature with a weed problem. We should have passed on him but I understand why we drafted him. Chido sucks but that pick was universally liked because of his versatility. Taco was a solid prospect that did not develop and practically every team passed on Watt. Hill was awful and the team panicked because the defensive line was so bad. The problem is we don’t draft with a plan. Hopefully that changes this season.

I mean we can go through the draft and discuss things.

I’m not expecting perfection. but let’s be real. That’s a ton of high draft picks and very little production to speak of.

if even half of those guys taken, were above average starters, healthy and producing consistently, the cowboys defense would be significantly better right now.

the defensive drafting has to get better.

our front office is great at drafting offense and offensive line. Mad props to them.

but defense? Man they have been struggling bad.

2 of those picks just mentioned. I wanted watt. I wanted Juan Thornhill

Just swap those two picks alone. How much better is our defense with Watt playing along side Lawrence. And Thornhill at safety?

They just have to hit better on defensive draft picks. They have to

I hear you. This draft will be a tough one. At pick 10 there will probably be 6 players they can take and the board will overreact accordingly to each one of them. I think the scouts, coaches and Mclay can come up with a good plan for this draft to improve the defense. The problem is Jerrah might be sitting on that Yacht and a player like Smith, Chase, etc is still on the board the Cowboys are liable to take him.

The real reason for our problems is so obviously beyond Dak. The Jones boys just can't build a good team.

I agree it will be harder to build a good team with Dak on a big contract. But I also believe it will be harder to build that team without a good QB. So we're really damned either way.

BS, signing Dak would not prevent drafting defensive talent. Fact is as other QB hit FA they too will be looking to the market value which is no different than what Dak is doing now.

yes but, a draft pick is a prospect, some are immediate impact, but most take time to develop and adapt. more in this time of pandemic, with good hires in free agency, you can make a competitive team without waiting too long, just look at Tampa, in my opinion, they made very good hires and moves. they have a balanced team.

the cowboys have been wasting a lot of time, first with Garrett, now with Dak's whims.

there is no certainty that Dak will not injure himself again, he is slow and has little elusiveness

The numbers do not win championships

More QB fail coming out of the draft than make it. So drafting a QB starting all over does not ensure us anything. I have watched enough be all to end all college QB bomb in the NFL. Dallas has a damn good QB for those who feel different fine you have the right to feel however you choose. I also know no matter how great the QB getting SB is no easy task. Right now Rodgers put up one of the best season in NFL history yet GB is going to be sitting at home.

As for Tampa they have a lot of good players already in house before the coaching change and before Brady.

Myra because we all know the QB with the beat stats automatically has his team sent to the SB.
It takes a whole team effort to reach a SB. All 4 conference championship teams had top QBs, good offensive players and top 10 defenses.

Wake up and smell the roses.

What did Josh Allen win though? He's in the same boat as Dak and pretty soon they're going to have to pay him.

So you think passing yards determines who is the best QB? Then why not sign Jameis Winston for small change? Didnt he beat Dak in 2019?

So based on your logic Dak is like Jameis Winston......passed for over 5,000 yards. led the NFL in passing last year, but the team record was below average. In that case, I think Dak should earn what Winston earned in 2020: $1.1M as a back up.

I remember these Dak defenders saying Josh Allen was garbage before that Thanksgiving day beat down. I told them before that Allen was the better QB.

Who cares, he's not our QB.. You're welcome to become a Bills fan lol

Because he also threw a ton of INTs, slightly different.
