The Lions got 2 firsts but they also got Goff and his bad contract. How do you guys feel about having Goff as the QB? I wouldn't feel too good about that if I were a Lions fan...

They play Goff $33m in 2021 and then cut him for just $6m dead Cap money in 2022.

They've got the 7th pick in this years draft to get a QB and also have the spare picks if they want/ or need to trade up to get their man.

Thank you!!!. The Goal is to win the SB. Jerrys goal is to go between 7-9 yo 9-7.
Bill Walsh once said every year you are only competing to win a SB with 5-6 teams.
When was the last time Jerry tried to win a SB. He just wants to keep us in the news, whether it's Romo, TO, Zeke, Manziel, Dak, War Daddy, Jerry World.
Winning a SB is not even in his top 10. mic drop

Well, exactly, if it was a priority for him, he'd fix the defence.

Not only that, but it doesn't stop them from potentially flipping Goff for more picks in a separate trade. Maybe they try to soak a team like the Saints for picks who are probably losing Brees to retirement. Imo, Goff is a better QB than Winston, and if the Lions were to approach the Saints for a 1st for Goff, I'd have a hard time passing that up if I were the Saints. Especially in a division in which you have to play Tom Brady twice per year, Goff would give the Saints a great option at QB. Plus, I think Sean Payton would do brilliantly with Goff.
Why would Payton want a clown like Goff. Goff needs to be spoon fed. He is the luckiest QB alive. He got paid because he had an amazing coach and infrastructure. Take your money and be happy.

Dak-stans thinking Dak can fetch what Stafford can get, while at the same saying McVay gave up too much.. And at the same time acknowledging that McVay is a real offensive genius, while claiming Dak struggles because he doesn’t have a real play-caller like McVay.. yet McVay loves himself some Stafford..

Well, I'm not so sure that Winston is exactly all that smart either. I figured that Payton might see Goff as someone who's skillset could work for him better than Winston. How much longer is left on Goff's contract?

it doesn't sound like the lions want to move him.
unless they get mcvay back on the phone.
they might get 3 more 1st's and a couple of 2's.

If there was a team willing to give picks up for Goff the Rams would have done that.

They instead had to give up picks in order for Detroit to take him and his guaranteed money.

I mean you can put lipstick on a pig all you want but at the end of the day these moves have bene reckless and haven't been working just like Jerry. If Jerry made these moves you guys would kill him for it and you know it. It just doesn't sting as much because its not our team doing it.

But like I said to another poster....a huge difference is McVey. But Garrett was Jerry's McVey it just didn't work out. You can literally make parallels to the moves they've made and to the moves we've made the past 10 years.....their McVey signing worked...ours didn't. Just like how they traded for Sammy Watkins and it failed? We traded for Cooper and it worked......

We haven't made a big game changing sacrificing move since trading for Amari Cooper. .but same way with Cowboy, is the same way with the Rams
there has to be a middle ground for how you want to extend efforts towards a SB.

Cowboys are usually very reserved in free agency spending and trading (aside from Cooper) while the Rams are still going all out with mega trades (Goff, Ramsey) while adding FA (Leonard Floyd) ...and Dante Fowler the year before

the Robert Quinn trade was clever low risk/high reward, the only thing is he was so one dimensional that he wasn't a long term investment .

Stafford has been a warrior over the years

a warrior"over the years" that has NEVER won a thing. Has a bad back, and is 33. The Rams screwed the pooch on this. Dude is a rental for 2 years then they will be searching all over again for another QB and they already traded away their draft picks in the future. Rams outlook beyond 2022 is bleak if your a fan.Lets be clear they didnt get Peyton Manning..he has never been that. He is a system QB with an arm. A dying breed. Dude has a bad back on top of it.

BTW While you made mentioned Sammy Watkins to Rams ,... also keep in mind that we Cowboys also tried to pursue Watkins as a UFA, to be our new lead WR, ...after we cut Dez Bryant, but Watkins opt to sign with KC Chiefs instead.

Opinions may vary, but i look at Watkins even with a QB such as Mahomes at hand, Sammy doesn't appear to be a featured lead WR, imo.
That was a luckliy avoided duck by for us. o_O

Yes, and he is heavily aided in KC in the sense that he has not only Mahomes as his QB, but he's got Hill on the otherside. Of course he's more open because defences have to sell out to try to have a chance to keep up with Hill.

That may be the case but the moves they've made aren't any different than what Jerry would do. They are incredibly reckless moves. They've wasted Aaron Donald's prime just like Jerry did Ware's.....
They've been to a SB with Donald, they couldn't even get past the division round with Ware.

Interesting you should bring that up, what do you think Donald thinks about that trade? What do all of their players think about it?

I do not see reckless and risky as synonymous with the moves they've made. You are not comparing Booger's move to trade for Roy UT Williams with them trading for Ramsey are you?

Then Rams and Seahawks trades are for known commodities like Ramsey, Adams and Stafford. Not trading up for Claiborne or trying to trade up for Lynch. However, that extension of Goff? Yep, that's a definite Booger move.

Wow. This is unbelievable. No way is Stafford worth that much and that much better than Goff. Is he better than Goff, absolutely, but 2 firsts??? No way.
