Dak is a top 5 quarterback. You sign him and go get two 1sts if you want to move on. One thing I’ve noticed about the kid is every year he’s gotten better. Watching how stiff and bad his mechanics were his first two years in the league it’s like he’s a completely different quarterback today. I hope the progress would continue in spite of getting paid. It rarely does for players.. However, That said.
5,000 yard 30+ TD quarterbacks don’t grow on trees. He’d have a market.
Jameis Winston threw for over 5,000 Yards and over 30 TD's....should TB have paid him near $40M?
As for Dak improving, he certainly has improved his personal passing stats but what has he done to improve the team? He went from 13-3 in his rookie year to a combined 29-24 record in his next 3-1/3 years......so how is that improving?
Dak's passing attempts by season and team record:
2016 459 attempts 13-3 record
2017 490 attempts 9-7 record
2018 526 attempts 10-6 record
2019 596 attempts 8-8 record
2020 222 attempts 2-3 record (projected if he maintained that pace: 710 attempts 7-9 record)
Passing Attempts % Increase From 2016:
2017: +6.8%
2018: +14.6%
2019: +29.8%
2020: (projected based on injury) +54.7%
So while Dak's attempts have increased each season, the team's record has actually been getting worse.
