I just have a hard time believing that someone with so much hype will work out. I have no real justification for doubting he'll succeed, other than the fact that people are acting like it's inevitable. No one is guaranteed to make it in the pros.

Would not be the worst thing in the world. I don't know how you defend this team if Dak and the OL are healthy, Zeke gives a darn, and the 4 receiving options are Cooper, Gallup, Lamb, and Pitts. Not even Kellen Moore could mess that up.

They should. Especially if they can move Darnold for value. Start your 5-year clock all over again. Plus, Wilson is legit.

I just don't see how. Too many QB-desperate teams and analytics are beating teams over the head with the whole "QB under rookie contract" philosophy.

The Eagles will do something stupid

The Bears are about to beat them to that and bail them out. Still a chance the Eagles do something crazy like you said. I think they take a WR regardless.

It would be interesting to see. This team needs defense the worst way. But if there is no defensive player worthy of the No. 10 pick, we should go best player available. If that's Pitts, so be it. Yes, that would be a dynamic bunch of players on the field at one time. But I thought that this year and last year. Somehow, despite our collection of offensive talent, we seem to sputter. Is it the offense scheme? The play calling? Lack of hard work? A feeling of futility by the players about this offense?

We should be steamrolling teams, but, instead, we're having to come back from behind against sorry teams and struggle against average teams. I'm saying this based on an offensive unit that should have the talent to match defenses like the WFT, the Steelers, the Ravens, the Rams and the, gasp, Cardinals.

Be that as it may, Pitts would be a potent addition. I'm just worried he will succumb to the underachieving spirit that hovers over the Cowboys franchise.

Manalive, you guys really need to stop looking at only one game. You can do that to all QB's coming out.

For instance, in Mahomes' 2nd to last college game he was 18/36 219yds/1 TD/2 INT's. Yup, he showed in that game that he was going to suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lawrence is a freak and his floor is a very good QB. He's Payton Manning w/ better wheels and a better arm.

I tend to agree that one game is not enough to judge a player, but I was not suggesting he is going to fail. I had a 100% sure thing label on him before that last game and I still think his chance of succeeding in the NFL Is better than 85%, but it is not his physical abilities I am questioning. Bad game for sure (for him), but what separates Brady, Brees, Montana, Majomes, Rodgers, etc, from the rest is guile. I could not help but question his guile after that game because it looked like he his problems that game were more mental than anything else.

All I am saying is, he may not be a sure thing for the hall of fame as some people were making him out to be.

What destroyed Manziel was that he learned how to improvise too much in college (he never developed a pocket presence), he thought he was faster than NFL linemen based on how he avoided college defenders and he had issues with alcohol.

I don't think Wilson has any of those issues. But, hey, these are your thoughts.

Even during his highschool years, Manziel was recognized as an arrogant, devil-may-care, hard partying, undisciplined teen. No one that knew him was a bit surprised by his fall from grace. If fact, most were surprised it didn't happen sooner. His substance abuse issues underpinned all of this.

Your skill players are only as good as your OLine. That's why taking more TE's and WR's is foolish.

My only disagreement is that we had the best offensive line a few years ago and did absolutely nothing with it. We should have driven that offensive line at least to an NFC Championship Game. It was tailor-made for the smash mouth type of game teams generally win in the playoffs (see the Titans of recent years). The fact we couldn't take advantage of this erstwhile dominant offensive line is a failure of coaching and culture.

That would be 16. Problem was, our DLine. We should've been putting Rodgers on his bum. Instead, we gave him plenty of time to peruse the field. Sickening.

I think it might be a bit more complicated. Because of player opt-outs, limited seasons, the loss of the traditional Combine, travel issues and rules against in-person visits, the draft will be even more than the usual crapshoot.

I expect more first round busts. I also expect more late-round gems. Guys who might have shot up the draft boards given a traditional season will become pleasant surprises. Guys who might have fallen out of favor in normal seasons will be over drafted.

This is the year to trade down and accumulate as many picks as possible -- or that's what common sense tells me. As always, though, I'll salivate over some particular prospect.

Clubs might not be willing to trade up as freely, and the price to trade up might be discounted. There could be too few trading partners.

Having said all that, the Cowboys are in a pretty good position. They will already have 9-10 picks when the compensatory picks are awarded. They could be the team to turn on when the last of the first round QBs is on the board. And if the QBs are gone, there will be at least one coveted offensive prospect still on the board.

The Cowboys are considering whether Jaycee Horn and an extra 2 or early 3 is as good as Surtain or Farley. They are considering whether to trade back, take a Barmore, a Moehrig or a Grant and benefit from an extra pick or two.

Picks in 2022 might be overvalued because teams will reason that they will have better information going into that draft. They might be reluctant to trade a 2022 pick to move up this year if not for a QB.

It will be intriguing to see how it all plays out.

Yes. He was thought of as a system QB
