I would take Watt if he weren't so expensive. I don't think there's much juice left in the tank and he's a shell of what he was, but you can pay a guy like that $4M a year and feel fine.

At $17.5M? Nah, I get the release.

2 healthy seasons in 5 years is a real concern.
if somehow it could be gaurenteed Watt would play 16 games i would absolutely take him at 17.5 hes worth it

but there's a good chance by the end of the first game of the seasons he's done for the year

...he's basically saying, Brady has 7 SB's and I got 1 playoff appearance. Gee, maybe another team will get me 2 playoff appearance's.

Good for JJ. He is better off.

on that note. I think he is washed. Maybe he has another season left at a decent level.

I also don’t think he fits the cowboys need. If they’re going after DL in FA. It should be a quality defensive tackle or two.

He is absolutely washed. No one wanted to trade for him because he was owed 17.5mill. He is not getting that in free agency I assume.

Hmmm, older vet player near the end of his career, often injured, who's cost would probably considered a bargain, sounds like Jerry's kind of guy.

Please stop with this "Let's sign him" stuff. He is like Lee 2.0, except Lee has played more games the last 5 seasons.

LOL he was due 17.5 million in base salary lets not act like this was some kind of sweetheart move by the Texans.

good for him. he should be a parttime rental for a superbowl contending team. perhaps Rams, since they put all their eggs in one basket. or KC, adding another DL man next to Jones should make them that much better on defense. he will be like gronk. play sparingly. save his health, try to unleash him in the post season.

Wooooaaaaahhhhh!!!!!! I thought they might trade him! Hey, since he's a FA, unless why don't we try to sign him?

In the last 5 seasons he only played all 16 games twice. He had a really good season in 2018 but the rest he was pretty pedestrian. He's no longer the JJ Watt of 2011 - 2015 when he was defensive player of the year. He's now going to try to live off his reputation from those earlier years. Aaron Donald is the new JJ Watt.

JJ Watt is still really good. Dont let the number of sacks fool you. He's a borderline Pro Bowl level player still.

Oh, no doubt, but, at the very least, he provides leadership on defence. Since we'll be likely looking to draft a lot of defence, Watt could essentially be a coach on the field for the players while also being a bridge while the younger players develop. Shouldn't need to keep him beyond a year, and then we get a nice comp pick for him after.

Texans could lose their three mainstays in two years in Hopkins, Watt, and maybe Watson, and no one would blame the players due to the FO being so incompetent.

JJ Watt wants a ring.

That won't happen in Dallas. Sorry, not as long as the Jones' own & run the team.

He'll go to KC or Tampa or other contender and probably take a cheap contract to do it just like Demarcus Ware did when he went to Denver.

JJ Watt will take less than the $16.6M he made in 2020, maybe half of it, in order to win a ring.

Defensive Ends aren't borderline Pro Bowl players that get 1 sack every 3+ games and that's what Watt had last year and the year before he had 4. His days as a full time top tier DE are over.
