“Goodell helped deliver football to a nation on time and at a crucial time, when our mood ring was going dark, when our collective spirit was starting to crack, when contentious dialogue dominated the headlines.

The NFL logo is a shield, and the symbolism never seemed more appropriate than in 2020, when the league powered on through a global catastrophe. On demand. “

Goodell has almost made the league unwatchable. Flags for big hits, flags for almost any hit on a Qb, taking a knee to the woke mob, and erroneous player fines.
I will give him credit for relaxing on his disciplinary action from early on in his career.
He also deserves credit for keeping the league going during the pandemic.
Goodell doesn’t make those rule changes. That’s the owners and their committees.

Commish or Comrade? It's very questionable to me.
Great point . He’s a Comrade of sorts representing the owners.

The owners realize how unpopular publicly it is to discipline their star players and why they’re willing to pay someone 50 million + a year to take the heat for them while balancing the imagine of their brand and damage control to sponsors and networks.

------The only ones who don’t see him in as bright a light are mostly disgruntled fans who’s fav player was suspended or fined as a result of his decisions based on the rules .

Rules? His own legal expert said there was nothing they could pin on Zeke, so he up and decides to give him 6 games anyway. The guy is a Grade A doosh, and does everything he can to screw over Dallas....that isn't being a homer....that is fact.

He makes games UNWATCHABLE...and his forced bro hugs and handshakes on draft day make me vomit...I always wonder who it was on his staff that taught him how to correctly do it.

There's nothing "National" about the NFL....

Getting in a complete season during the pandemic was a great accomplishment. I do believe Goodell has been the best Commissioner for Ownerhip and revenue streams, however, I don't think the players would agree with your assessment and as a fan I think the game is at an all time low for appeal (that's only since 71' for me).

you believe they lied about the numbers so they can say it’s the worst in 50 years?

I do. I think the numbers were worse. I have at least a dozen friends that are die hard football fans. Like crazy fans. None of us watched the game. Unheard of just a few years ago. I think the NFL is in big trouble.

..that's weird, I thought Gordy had no friends. Well, I stand corrected. Whenever I see him, I cringe with thought he's milking the NFL with everything he has.

I think you can blame that on Brady fatigue more than anything.

Mahomes vs Brady was the marquee matchup. Spin all you like but that game should have been a big draw. The NFL is in big trouble.

The NFL staged 268 games inside a pandemic. None were canceled. All counted in the standings. None were exhibitions.

It is the crowning triumph of Roger Goodell’s career.

Football will never be the same. We have learned that training camp can be abbreviated; that off-season gatherings can be done virtually; that pre-season games aren’t necessary for an NFL team to perform well in Week 1.

Goodell deserves much credit for not only steering the league thru this seasons pandemic but really the most difficult era Id argue in NFL history as it continue to transcend with the times including all of the issues it’s confronted with in society.

I know he’s received criticism for his disciplinary actions of players but that’s a critical part of the success he’s been able to achieve overcoming theses social unrest the league and its players have encountered which has divided some of our fans as they have walked away as a result.

But he’s stayed the course protecting the Iconic label and its owners interest. And every decision in the long run appears the right decision for the league.

But the way he handled this pandemic with strict guidelines fining HC’s for not wearing mask initially and the protocols to avoid not cancelling any games which no other league can claim is truly remarkable.

He’s going to be an early lock for HOF. And history is going to reflect generously on him perhaps before he’s done surpassing Rozelle as greatest Commish ever.

Yea, I said it here first.
Not forgetting the royal screw job he gave Zeke.

I have no idea what you’re referring to.

But I’m speaking on behalf of many notable respected critics of the league and sports on not only how well Goodell steered the league this year thru the pandemic which he is widely being recognized for but all of the issues the owners and players have left for him to clean up.

The only ones who don’t see him in as bright a light are mostly disgruntled fans who’s fav player was suspended or fined as a result of his decisions based on the rules .

lol.
