In my opinion there are two types of football players. The ones who want to win a ring. And the ones who just want to play for the money. Yes there is a third type that want both . But the point is where does Jerry Jones fit into this , Are GM . Jerry has always been loyal to his players. It seams he’s not always been loyal to winning a championship. Until he runs his team with only one goal in mind. We will be the same old Cowboys. Competitive. But not Super Bowl Worthy.

Find a recent interview where Jerry said all he desired was to be 'relevant' and 'interesting'. There's your answer. Don't come to Dallas if your goal is to win championships. I think the players around the NFL figured this out years ago.

I never really wanted to believe it. But it seems it’s factual. Only cares about relevant

He does, but thinks he can go about it the same way he has for 25 years. His early success, thanks to Jimmy, and the luck of having the #1 overall pick his first year has clouded his thinking and lead him down a path that he’s unwilling to veer from. Long story short, it ain’t happening unless he changes.

Actually all he ever says is all he cares about is winning. He literally comes to tears talking about it. He obviously hasn’t been successful the last 26 years.

I believe thats what he said is the only time he would worry is if they were irrelevant. Paraphrasing there of course.

Sure he wants to win a championship.

but, he is egotistical and self centered. He also wants to be the center of cowboys attention and he has to win his way.

if he can’t win his way, with him receiving enough of the “credit” to satisfy his ego. Then he isn’t interested.

I agree with some of the above comments. He wants to win but not badly enough to let someone else take the credit for it. It has to be his way. This is why when it come to changing head coaches the actual market is very limited. Clearly what this organisation needs is a Bill Parcells figure to shake things up and to change the way things are done. But that is the last thing Jerry wants.

Of course Jerry wants to win championships, it's ludicrous to think otherwise. The problem is, Jerry can still make mountains of money without winning Super Bowls and so he lacks that extra motivation that other teams might have that drives them to make those tough and uncomfortable NFL decisions necessary for the betterment of the team.

@Whirlwin The GM puts the team together. The team has had enough talent and coaching to succeed. The players have failed, not the GM.

Quit looking at the GM for excuses why the players fail to execute. Yes, the GM has made some mistakes just like every other GM out there. It is the players who win or lose on the field. Jerry believed in Zeke and caved when he went to Cabo instead of camp. Zeke-lovers here mostly agreed with paying him. Jerry appeased the fans and believed in Zeke. For that, Jerry is at fault. Zeke only cares about the money. That is mostly on Zeke, who does not have the heart of a champion, and the Zeke-lovers who care more about the player than the team.

In my opinion, too many fans are quick to blame the GM and not the players. Dak, Zeke, Cooper, et al need to go out there and win a championship. Fans need to stop making excuses for the star players. The players just lack the desire and are content. It comes from within or it doesn’t come at all. Dak, Zeke, Cooper et al need to lead. They are most responsible for the culture and attitude of the team. Not the GM.

Dude,
This has been my thesis statement for several years now.
Jerry has zero motivation to win,
most valuable franchise- Check
already a HOF- Check
3 SBs- check
Most revenue, most profit- check
The only thing that bothers Jerry is being irrelevant, going 3-13 and having your games flexed off Sunday night, Espn, FS1 to stop talking about him. He loves Dak's contract, Zeke Contract, WarDaddy talk, Earl Thomas talk, all of this nonsense that surrounds the team including his face being broadcast during every game. He has zero motivation to win, his goal is to go between 7-9 and 9-7. I have seen this play out over the past 26 years. Judge a person by their actions not their words.
Just look back with a unbiased view, we have the same number of Championship game appearances as the WFT & Lions. I no longer even think about winning a SB, just let this team get to a championship game and compete to play in one. We are not America's team, it is really just a distant memory. Jerry has been living off the residue that Jimmy Johnson built from 89-93.
When Jerry comes into the office every morning, his focus is on his brand and the Cowboy brand, not on winning a SB. It might be item 10 on his list. Just be honest as fans and realize what is going on. I am not saying we can do anything about it. My dream is he gets a godfather offer from some tech billionaire and sells the team. Please Bezos pay 7 billion for this team and rescue us.
If Jerry careda bout winning he would have hired a boardroom full of analytics folks, the best scouting department, the best personell guy, the best coach. Jerry never talks about money being an issue or writing a check. The one area where there is no salary cap is in the coaching and personnel group.
Jerry destroyed the culture, just look at what happens to teams that care about culture and build it up. Look at the turnaround of the Bucs, Niners, Rams, even go back to the Broncos with Peyton.
Culture eats strategy for business, it always has and always will. There is no way around it. Our team, fo, fans all all satisfied with being average. Look how bent out of shape we got for Romo.... Romo for goodness sake. He was good player, but him staying or leaving just didn't move the needle. Our Football hero's are all zero's. It's a sad state of the Cowboys.

I've heard him say it. But in this interview with 105.3 (and no, I don't have a link) he clearly said he wanted to be relevant and interesting. The interviewer had to basically say, what the hell, dude, what about winning? Only then did Jerry backtrack and say oh yeah, winning is important as well.

Someone who is as passionate about winning, like Jerry claims sometimes, would have spit that out first.
