In my opinion there are two types of football players. The ones who want to win a ring. And the ones who just want to play for the money. Yes there is a third type that want both . But the point is where does Jerry Jones fit into this , Are GM . Jerry has always been loyal to his players. It seams he’s not always been loyal to winning a championship. Until he runs his team with only one goal in mind. We will be the same old Cowboys. Competitive. But not Super Bowl Worthy.
Dude,
This has been my thesis statement for several years now.
Jerry has zero motivation to win,
most valuable franchise- Check
already a HOF- Check
3 SBs- check
Most revenue, most profit- check
The only thing that bothers Jerry is being irrelevant, going 3-13 and having your games flexed off Sunday night, Espn, FS1 to stop talking about him. He loves Dak's contract, Zeke Contract, WarDaddy talk, Earl Thomas talk, all of this nonsense that surrounds the team including his face being broadcast during every game. He has zero motivation to win, his goal is to go between 7-9 and 9-7. I have seen this play out over the past 26 years. Judge a person by their actions not their words.
Just look back with a unbiased view, we have the same number of Championship game appearances as the WFT & Lions. I no longer even think about winning a SB, just let this team get to a championship game and compete to play in one. We are not America's team, it is really just a distant memory. Jerry has been living off the residue that Jimmy Johnson built from 89-93.
When Jerry comes into the office every morning, his focus is on his brand and the Cowboy brand, not on winning a SB. It might be item 10 on his list. Just be honest as fans and realize what is going on. I am not saying we can do anything about it. My dream is he gets a godfather offer from some tech billionaire and sells the team. Please Bezos pay 7 billion for this team and rescue us.
If Jerry careda bout winning he would have hired a boardroom full of analytics folks, the best scouting department, the best personell guy, the best coach. Jerry never talks about money being an issue or writing a check. The one area where there is no salary cap is in the coaching and personnel group.
Jerry destroyed the culture, just look at what happens to teams that care about culture and build it up. Look at the turnaround of the Bucs, Niners, Rams, even go back to the Broncos with Peyton.
Culture eats strategy for business, it always has and always will. There is no way around it. Our team, fo, fans all all satisfied with being average. Look how bent out of shape we got for Romo.... Romo for goodness sake. He was good player, but him staying or leaving just didn't move the needle. Our Football hero's are all zero's. It's a sad state of the Cowboys.
