This is getting out of control. Who knew that feeding your family, while not being disrespected as you attempt to extract every dollar you can out of the franchise that has to pay your supporting cast would be so difficult:laugh:

No team is giving up much for Darnold. This is Darnold’s 4th year. Someone would have to guarantee his 5th year for injury. If Darnold gets hurt this year the team is on the hook for an expensive 5th year. If Darnold has a good year he will want to break the bank at $40M per year.

The 2nd pick in the draft the Jets hold has value to a team looking for Fields.

Please, Dak would be out of the league if he played for the Jets.

I agree..

When the talent drops off a little around him we have fallen off a cliff at times until we play a team as bad as we are like the Giants usually.

That year they thought they could get by with average WRs was very telling.. He was at best average and how can we forget the Chaz Green game in Atlanta?

The Cowboys looked like they were a franchise trending up and ever since Zeke got suspended after that Chiefs game we have just not been the same franchise.

Amari Cooper provided a nice lift but we’ve gone right back to where we were but maybe worse.

Moving on from Garrett needed to happen at least 1 year sooner than it did and they compounded their mistake by taking the least risky candidate in McCarthy and he has somehow manage to make the team worse then the .500 ball that Garrett had us playing.

I've come around to the idea of us potentially trading for Sam Darnold. However, I am NOT giving up THAT much for him with this defence.

Death, taxes, and this board being obsessed with downgrading the QB position.

Darnold would make something like $35m next year anyway, then be a free agent. So by acquiring Darnold, you've made your quarterback position AND your contract position worse.

well everybody is ragging on the young sam darnold think back about THE DAK and he lost to this QB as a matter of fact you had better remember Dak was garbage most of the time in 2019 and where he got those amazing yards that everybody gets hung up on were Sub 500 teams. And just think we don't have to wait for darnold learn how to pass all over the field with any accuracy, that in itself is a blessing, As for me the minute his agent says 41 to 42 million i would tag him and send him packing because we are 2 to 3 years away from competing . And anybody that says we need him think instead jumping out there with any thought , because think about elliott, didn't everybody and i read this forum and people were having a fit over jerry not signing him and i mean every one so think long and hard before you start punching those keys for a must have person as i said before see you in 2022 draft thats all your gonna have to look for in the future

In reality the jury is still out on Darnold as he has played in horrific conditions for a young QB. Problem is that he might be broken as a result but if not, there's still immense upside to him for the right price.
Darnold having horrible conditions and Dak having premier conditions. would be fun to swap and see how things shake out. Reminds me of that movie trading places.

I don't think it's the right move for us unless he does a long term deal for money around 25 million a year.

I'd rather draft.

I'd rather draft as well, or go with a cheap 1 year bridge like Cam Newton if we're to decide that Dak is not in our future plans. Use this year to build our defence as best as we can in one offseason. Then let the chips fall where they may next season and prepare to draft a QB next offseason.
