P.Surtain II, C.Farley & Jaycee Horn

But I’m not really sure why you are arguing so hard for this is this just about being right or what?
You responded to me first lol. I didnt start this. I just said he didnt have long corners in atl. Both guys had less than his 32 inch threshold. Im just speaking facts. I want the best corner, period.

Surtain and it is not even close. Hopefully teams in front of us question his speed and hips so he will be there at 10. They guy has three years of good game tape against the best receivers in college football and his father was a pro bowl cornerback. The kicker is he will only 21 years old to start the season and has no injury history. He would walk in off the street and team with Diggs then we would have one of the best pair of cornerbacks in the league. His technique is already NFL level.

Farley is athletic, fast and seems like a good kid but he needs more experience. The guy should have played this season. Big upside because of his speed and ball skills.

Horne had one great game against Auburn that put him on the map. He is grabby but if the referees let him play I love his competitiveness.

This is pretty much my take....for now.

I really don't think any of the corners have top-10 value. I think the position is incredibly deep this year, and there are quite a few starting quality guys out there, but I don't see an elite lock down guy.

I've been against Farley all along because of the injuries and the lack of experience. His splash stats are there, for one season, but I just don't think I could invest a top-10 pick in that uncertainty.

Then there is Surtain. He's been my guy all along, but I agree with the assessment that he'll likely never be great, but have more of a OK #1/good #2 type of career. I also don't think he has as much versatility as Farley.

Ive taken a lot of heat for my stance on Horn, but it seems like other people are coming around even after attacking me a few months ago. Horn is a good football player. He's incredibly aggressive and assertive. I don't, however, think he has the lateral mobility you need to be a cover corner in the NFL. He looks very stiff to me. All that said, if the Cowboys trade back to the late teens or early twenties and he's there, I would absolutely snatch him up. He's got the pedigree and that chance to just flip a switch at some point.

I’m quickly losing interest in taking a CB in the 1st.

Farley is the only one with legit CB1 potential IMO. The draft isn’t too heavy but has good depth. If we’re gonna be playing a lot of some I think you can get a starter in round 2 or 3.

I feel the same and I don't think Farley will be available after he works out. After him, the gap from Surtain/Horn to the 2nd tier isn't that significant. There will be several day 1 impact starters on day 2. I've heard there may even be upwards of 12 corners that could have 1st or 2nd rd grades, which suggest, the positional group could even stretch to the third round.

Farley was a QB in high school with blazing breakaway speed. He went to VT as a wide receiver. This kid has a lot more brains about the game than most; he has had a year to strengthen his body for the NFL. He can be better than Terrence Newman, as he is much bigger at 6'2" 207. If he is there at 10, I would take him in a heart beat. Teams should do MRI's on the knees of top draft corners to determine if they have anything pre-existing damage inside.

Agreed. I'd rather have someone like Stokes / Newsome / Meli etc in the 2nd that Surtain or Horn at 10.

Who you guys like at corner and why? I watched a little highlight tape not a lot. I do like the way Surtain & Horn turn their head and play the ball...it would be nice to have a corner who can intercept some passes.

Any of them if they replace Awuzie...

If not corner at 10, who is your favorite to be selected, if a trade down cannot be found? For me, it's Slater then Parsons.

If Parsons is clean off the field he'd be my preference. If he's not and Farley is gone? The below are names that come to mind in no particular order.

- Slater
- Pitts/Chase if either falls
- Ojulari
- Darrisaw

I have done several mock simulations, have no issue finding a quality corner or even a Tackle outside of rd 1, but struggle finding a top linebacker on day 2. Think taking Cox/Browning is too rich at 44 and probably neither make it to 75.

All the 1st rd linebackers have question marks, but Parsons is the only one with pro bowl level upside. I'm warming up to the idea of taking him, as you said if his character off the field checks out.

Outside of a skilled offensive player falling to us, my short list is down to three players:

Farley, Slater, Parsons.

I'm absolutely OK with selecting the best OL on the board, but I think Parsons will be gone. I think a real dark horse for the Cowboys is JOK. We've discussed him ad infinitum around here and whether he's a good fit, but I think they're gonna fall in love with his versatility and upside. He definitely doesn't fit a traditional mold, even as well as Parsons, but his ability to cover and play the weak side makes him an ideal 3-down backer for the direction the NFL is headed. He's also a very good edge Blitzer which makes him a very good LEO candidate for Quinn.

I'd obviously prefer they trade back if JOK is the guy, but this front office has shown they'll throw rankings out the window if they've targeted a specific player.

Any team who drafts JOK has to have a plan how to use him. Talent is there, but personally think he is more of a safety, then he is as a linebacker, but can be used in multiple ways. Really would rather take another hybrid like Nasrilideen or Deablo as there is less risk if they don't work out.

Farley has the best chance of being an all-pro, but his floor is also lower than that of a Surtain. I like Horn too but don’t think he’ll be the pick.
Horn is more of a trade down option
Who ever we take is gonna be getting huge reps right away so I’d rather stay at 10 and get Farley/Surtain

JOK is just too small for LB and you don’t take a guy in the top half of round one that doesn’t have a position
