Mindblowing Surtain Stat

I don’t see it that way and don’t care if they do anything with the secondary. To me it starts with the pass rush and DL if you’re talking defense, but fix the offense and the defense instantly gets better.

I love the Surtain pick. But the more I look into Quinn’s scheme I see more of an emphasis on DT, LB and FS. I think we can get by with a few free agents or Chido back running a zone scheme

Am I the only one that's NOT worried about his supposed lack of deep speed (like Diggs) since they are going to a Cover 3 Scheme? Seems to me that the guy that needs to have the MOST speed/range in the secondary is the FS. ET's speed/range is what made The L.O.B SO DEADLY. Sherman and whoever lined up across from him were NEVER speed merchants, but they payed their zones so well that ET cleaned up everything over the top. So, a combo of Surtain @ 10 and Grant, Holland, or Cisco in Rounds 2-3 should do the trick.

I love the player and would be happy to have him but stats like this get overblown. Many top CBs would have success at bama given the surrounding talent. You’ve got 4/5 star talent over the top at the safety position and you have four of the top pass rushers in the country. I would expect you to shut down your man.

That's fair. If there were a player on the DL that was worth pick 10, I'd definitely take that player over a CB.

But that player isn't in this draft

Exactly what I was thinking. Quinn's defense thrived with Sherman at CB. (Which is funny, because now that he's going to be available, people don't want him because he's too slow). The CBs in Quinn's system need to be smart and physical, no?

And re: Surtain, we're not talking like Desmond King lack of speed here, either. This dude hung with the best of the best already, and was rarely if ever embarrassed by a speed receiver.

Saivon Smith would like to have a word sir

I get what you’re saying and it’s a valid point. But it doesn’t always translate to NFL success. There are productive guys like Robert Lester, Anthony Averett who aren’t drafted high.

Only player I’ve see run by Surtain was Chris Olave. Play didn’t go that way so Surtain may have been in zone coverage.

I wonder why Quinn never had a lot of success with the Falcon Defense ? He was there long enough

Well hopefully they watch tape and figure it out because every Sunday he will be playing guys better than Chris Olave

I know it's unpopular, but don't care, I want no part of Surtain, especially at 10. Our defense already lacks team speed, adding another makes little sense. Surtain will be able to cover the big X receivers, but I am scared to death putting him against any speed/quickness. Diggs is a very similar player, we need more speed at the position.

Xavien Howard ran a 4.58. Had 10 picks last season. Gamers can game. 22 career picks

Surtain doesn't possess elite ball skills, he is a shadow corner, kind of like Bryon Jones. Diggs out of the two had far and away the better ball skills.

Oh no, for sure man.

Just saying guys can play and I’ll take technique and instincts over pure speed.
