Just hit sort on the INT column and you get the order of when each corner should be taken, huh?

We need more speed or we will be forced to play more cover 2 shellsVery astute and valid points. For this reason, I'll take Farley any day over Surtain.
Meh. Its guys in round 2 with similiar numbers.
While guys are touting Farley for his speed and explosiveness, he is much more of a boom or bust prospect. Very new to the position, not a willing tackler, and has an injury history.
Surtain doesn’t have the quickness Farley possesses but he is one of the most pro-ready players in the draft. He is a technician that doesn’t mind coming up to strike you.
Someone else brought up a great point that playing with the talent Surtain did may have made his job easier so I’m interested in seeing him in more one on one drills. (Which we probably won’t get)
Why is it quite a take? This is quite a take
Surtain is my number 1 corner in this draft. A whole lot of what CB’s do in the NFL is based on technique, smarts, and strength... all things that Surtain is loaded down with.
I think his speed will be fine and you’re really not going to have a 6’1” or taller corner who has the Quicks to stay with a Tyreek Hill or a Cole Beasley, both who can change direction on a dime. Surtain will be playing outside and someone like Brown or Lewis will be playing those guys in the slot most of the time. The Slot corner must have quickness, IMO.
The outside WR’s can be burners (but less quickness) with deep speed but Surtain’s technique can go a long way towards limiting those guys. Besides, you’re going to have a safety over the top almost always if you have a dangerous speed WR running a 9 down the field.
Much of dealing with a guy like Tyreek Hill comes from the coach and their game planning.
Surtain has been playing corner his whole life, basically. The guy is rock solid.
He’s got the size and speed part of the position down pat and was pretty darn good at the coverage part when we last saw him in 2019. He allowed a passer rating of only 26.8 that season.-PFF on Farley.Boom or bust? Based off of what?
In his final season he was in the top 3/5 in coverage grade against power 5 teams, QBR against and snaps per reception. All while showcasing + ball skills.
I agree he needs to improve tackling but he’s an already an elite coverage prospect even being newer to the position.
Yeah, the year we NEED him to be. We suck and get a high pick but still can’t get a break. That's fair. If there were a player on the DL that was worth pick 10, I'd definitely take that player over a CB.
But that player isn't in this draft
Yeah, the year we NEED him to be. We suck and get a high pick but still can’t get a break.
There's almost never a DL worth a top-10 pick, especially since teams picking there generally need a QB.Yeah, the year we NEED him to be. We suck and get a high pick but still can’t get a break.
Trenches. Only thing that matters more is QB.

His Fundamentals & Techniques are......
‘The Best for a DB coming out of College’
Todd McShay has seen since he started Scouting.
Those are his words during the National Championship.
I totally understand Surtain is a technician and is more polished, but the talk about Farley being super raw and boom/bust is insane to me.
Yes, he's young to the position but he has incredible production in his last year and is WAY ahead of schedule in his development for being newer to the position.

This is with very little development and experience.I totally understand Surtain is a technician and is more polished, but the talk about Farley being super raw and boom/bust is insane to me.

Byron Jones lit up the combine. 2 picks. Diggs had 3Xavien Howard ran a 4.58. Had 10 picks last season. Gamers can game. 22 career picks
Farley's an excellent prospect in his own right. No doubt. But things like an injury history and relative lack of experience are enough to create uncertainty about a guy. Nothing is written in stone, yeah, and Surtain could suddenly flake out for all we know. But most people tend to prefer an extensive resume of excellence vs a short resume of excellence because that excellence is more likely to continue when it's been proven for a longer period of time.
Also, a lot of really talented CBs don't pan out in the NFL, for whatever reason, so I think the extra scrutiny is warranted.
