Alim McNeil

I wouldn't be mad if we could trade down, get Barmore in the 1st and double dip and get McNeil in the 2nd.

Very intriguing to me. Quality anchor with the ability to utilized as a penetrator. 11 sacks over his career, but production did dip from 5.5 to 1 in 2020. Looks like a day 2 guy
He is definitely liked around here.

He is on 80% of the mocks I see.

The DT class reminds me of the WR class that had Gallup. No stud high 1st round talent but a lot of quality players in the late first through the third round and you just don't know which one will be left but there will be at least one and that guy will likely be just as good as the one taken in the late first.

Yes please - he and Gallimore would be one of the top DT duos in the NFL.

We’ll have to take him at 44 after we take Farley at 10. Or maybe we can get Grant at 44 then trade up in the 3rd to get him.
What is the fascination with Grant? I don't think he's all that, kinda looks like a 3rd-4th round jag to me more than a top 50 pick.

I like the idea of going CB, then S in rounds 1 and 2. I am hoping the Cowboys go after Sheldon Rankins or Dalvin Tomlinson in free agency. But I don't see them signing a free agent, or drafting a safety in round 2. So a big space eating DT is fine. McNeil looks like a nice compliment to Hill and Gallimore.

You’re wrong. Kid had a great Senior Bowl and is always around the ball and makes plays. JAG’s are what we’ve had at S the last 20 yrs and this kid ain’t that.

His draft grade is the same as Bobby Brown III Texas A&M, he's ranked a little ahead of guys like Tuipulotu, Wilson, Tonga, and Odighizuwa.

Overview
Sawed-off frame that lacks optimal length but carries plenty of base strength and upper-body explosiveness. McNeill lined up over the nose, which did him a bit of a disservice in relation to his athletic traits and overall strengths. He might not have the overall length and mass to withstand the rigors of two-gapping in the NFL, but he does have plus flexibility and fluidity for a big man and should create problems for centers as a shaded nose with the ability to attack or counter either A-gap. While he's a good athlete and should test well, he's not necessarily cat-quick and still relies more on power than first-step penetration quickness. He's a likely rotational nose early in his career and has a chance to develop into a starter.

I’d rather have Tufele than McNeill.

My thought is yes please. I think he can be the guy that they would be willing to use a decent pick for a 1T, because he's stout against the run and he can also give you some inside pass rush.

I agree, unless we can trade back to the mid-teens, take Horn there, get an extra 2 and take Moehrig or Grant and then McNeil.

Reminds me of Brandon Mebane of Seattle back a few years ago. Good player.

I don't get why people think this.

I like McNeill, but he doesn't have any elite traits or size. He's the exact type of player you take in the third.
I’m not as high on him as I was.
