Gallup for 13 million or Cooper for 21?

If Gallup could be resigned for 13 million per year who do you keep and who do you let go or trade? Cooper is scheduled to make around 21 million the next couple years.

Cant keep all 3 of these guys. The drafting of Lamb was the writing on the wall for one of these guys.

Cooper.

Trade Gallup, draft a guy like Tylan Wallace.

Coop, Lamb, Rookie / FA

I would go the other way and sign Gallup. Love Cooper, but he is getting older and the 6 million is a lot. Keep the young Lamb and Gallup 1-2 together for the next 5 years. I also think we could trade Cooper and get possibly a 3rd or 2nd rounder.

Cooper is 26 entering his prime years and has put up great numbers since acquired. Gallup isn’t close to the caliber player Cooper is

Due to cooper’s contract, he probably doesn’t have a lot of trade value but Gallup does, so that’ll likely net you the best outcome down the road. Cooper was paid for his talent, which is still higher than gallup

Entering his prime? Thats going over board. Gallups numbers havent been that far off from Cooper. For 8 million I take Gallup and the youth. Getting 1000-1200 yards and 8-10 TD's shouldnt be a problem for Gallup with Cooper gone.

I like Cooper better, but not at 21.

It's not close, Cooper and he's still young. Gallup gets the luxury of having Cooper be a number 1.

Cooper seems the overwhelming choice for most on here. So none of you value the 8 million difference?

Plus there is probably no way that Jones lets Cooper go after giving up a first rounder for him. I see Cooper of more of an injury risk.

Just looked it up, Cooper gets 22 million per year Cap hit. So the 9 million doesnt factor in for you? Thats a quality starting DT or safety right there.

Agreed. It’s funny how many are quick to get rid of cooper at this age and how he’s played. Look how our offense was when we had tavon Austin as our number 1

Cooper is far better and they may even restructure him this year.

I like Gallup but I think they let him walk next year.

Ouch!!! Letting these quality players walk shouldnt be an option. Gotta trade these guys and get something.

Won’t be surprised if Coop is restructured because it saves so much cap space in this cap starved year...making this question irrelevant.

The next question is...if we are invested into Coop for big $ and still have Lamb, what is the minimum you trade Gallup for instead of letting him walk? Gotta imagine he will get minimum 4th in comp pick if he walks as a FA so I would start the talks at an early 3rd.

2nd or 3rd. Maybe a 3rd and a 5th.

Good question. Hard question.
I personally think Gallup gets more than that, but if there was a definite 13 milly cap on him...

Dang. I don't know. I am of the opinion that Lamb can overtake him and he stays the #2.

But then what to do about Lamb a few years later?

Good food for thought thread.

Definitely a tough one. Like you said, depends on what Gallup wants. If he is any higher than 13 then I sway towards Cooper. Wonder what we could get in a trade for Cooper?
