This just screwed every single team that needs to re-sign their QB big time. The benchmark is now $40mn for a good starter. Josh Allen will be looking to top Mahomes $45mn a year if it isn't broken sooner.

Who will be the first guy to $50mn?

You're welcome to every team!

Cap is helpful too. In the last year cap hit is 34 million. Which will be really low by then compared to others.
Given it is a 6 year deal with 2 voidable years, but you can only spread the signing bonus hit over 5 years, I think it is a strong indicator that this is just leg 1 of the deal, and we will parlay it into an extension in year 3 or 4.

Josh isn’t getting Dak money:laugh:

Dak will remain the highest paid quarterback for at least 2-3 years.

I mean I can promise you Baker, Lamar, and Allen were not going to sign for under 40 and beating them to the contract was probably the best thing that the Cowboys could have done. They were always going to all be more than 40m per.

They could also look at it as the Jerry Jones overpay exception as they did with Zeke.

zeke got 15m$ a year, then a year later, the best RB in the league got 12m a year. Tennessee basically told Henry it was not their fault that Jerry is crazy

Most important part is Dak will be leading the offense for the next 4 years. :yourock::oldcouple::oldcouple:

Putting your opinions of Dak aside, here are the real winners of today's deal:

Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Baker Mayfield, and eventually Kyler Murray.

The biggest losers -

Every non-QB in the league.

True, but QB's were always the highest paid players. Now the cost to keep one is simply absurd. I'm happy Dallas kept Dak, but the numbers any QB gets these days boggles the mind.

Let's face it, if the Cowboys didn't pay Dak, the Bears, Jets, Washington, or somebody else would have.
