Not to pile on our newly minted quarterback but I have serious doubts about Dak in a critical juncture of a big game. Say there is a minute and change left on the clock. They’ve got one timeout left. 80 yards to go. I don’t think Dak is that guy to lead a team to pay dirt. He is so risk averse he throws way too many 5 yard passes. And before you know it it’s 4th and long.

I just don’t see him as a game changer.

Thing is they just paid him as one.
You mean like in the 4th QB of a playoff game?

We just gained salary cap space. Why would it get worse from this?
It could get worse because the only team we can beat are the Atlanta Falcons. This season it helps with salary cap but 2022 and onward we are going to be in trouble. And we're really going to be in trouble if Tyron and/or Collins can't play. Cuz all that precious salary cap room needs to go to the defense. A QB is only as good as his supporting cast and without good offensive lineman Dak will be a sitting duck. So if those guys can't play then we're screwed this year as well because rebuilding the offensive line and defense is not happening in one draft.

You know what, I'm not even mad at Dak and I'm not even mad that he signed. Actually I'm kind of relieved that it's over. Here's what I'm mad about. I'm mad about the no trade and no tag clause. So basically Tad and Todd bent Jerry over the barrel and Jerry took it. Okay from this point moving forward I am going to embrace Dak and root for him. I've lost some respect for him due to his complete inflexibility and sticking it to the Cowboys but hey if he can do, go for it. It's not Dak's fault that Jerry let him take him to school. But Dak is a Cowboy and I'm a Cowboy fan and Dak is my QB. I'm not blaming Dak, Todd and Tad for Jerry's complete incompetence as a GM and owner.

What I refuse to embrace anymore and I will argue this to anyone is Jerry Jones is a "good owner but a bad GM". Nope, not any more guys. Jerry is a horrible owner and a horrible GM. Jerry is absolute human trash at this point. He sucks at being an owner of a sports team and his "GM skills" are laughable. Yes he makes money but that doesn't mean he's a good team owner. A good team owner cares about the product on the field. Jerry does not. Jerry sucks. A good team owner does not go 25 years and be 500, with what 3 or 4 playoff wins since 96. complete garbage.

Client stoerner, Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchison, Anthony Wright, Ryan Leaf, Drew Hensen, Drew Bledsoe, Andy Dalton, GG, Nooch all averaged roughly 3 less victories then Dak Prescott and Tony Romo. Dak and Tony led teams were roughly 500 quality teams and the other QBs mentioned were 5-11 QB's. When Jerry has a top flight QB he can not put a team around him to succeed. Even with Aikman we were 8-8 after Jimmy Johnson's players started retiring and Jerry's players consumed more of the roster. Jimmy's guys started getting old or retiring around 96-97. 98 and 99 Aikman was 500 and no playoff wins. Tell me when this is starting to sound familiar.

So I'm scared it can get worse. Jerry cemented a dangerous precedent today. He strated this precedent with Zeke and it is cemented today. Jerry has cemented a precedence that if you are an above average player on his horrible put together team then when your contract is up you will be paid like an all pro. Now to stay within the cap in the upcoming years were are going to have to restructure and prolong contracts of these average players that are being paid like all pros and keep ourselves in contract hell.

I'm not mad that we signed Dak, I'm mad at Jerry's overall complete failure as a sports owner and it seems to get worse. I'm kind of happy for Dak. I'm going to go watch the highlight of him getting carted off the field with tears in his eyes. Now knowing that he is fully paid and hopefully financially set for life that image of him being taken off the field wont be as painful anymore. Dak's story of breaking is ankle and coming out of it is a happy one for him and that I am glad about. I'm glad he got paid since the last time I saw him on the field he was injured and scared for his future.

I just wish Jerry was the owner of another team, I am starting to hate that man and his fat, worthless son.

4 years for $160 million.

Lol, that makes the Jaylon deal look brilliant.

Say hello to 32-32.

EDIT:. Turns out this is actually only a 2-year deal for $80 million. Other two years are for cap purposes.

If we're talking about stellar play by him, I agree. But you were talking team success, which is a completely different animal.
20 or so FAs to make decisions on besides Prescott; from what I'm reading here at Cowboys Zone and Bloggin The Boys (the other fan site I frequent)....the majority of fans want to move on most of the secondary and half the LB group.

You may not be considering the fact that unlike every other QB, Dak wasn't resigned with years left on his deal.
Those discounted years do matter to players. They would to you if you were Dak.

Someone sketch up for me how you build a winning team around a QB that takes half your cap...

Sketch it up

first he doesnt take up half your cap, sketch up how they built it ,while he was on his rookie deal for 5 years. then you'll have your answer
