We need to get Dalvin Tomlinson

Anyone expecting that is going to be sorely disappointed. The pattern of this team is to pay our own (because we know them) and fill in the gaps with cheap broken-down, aging or never-was players.

2021 $22.2m cap hit
2022 $33,2m cap hit
2023 44.2m cap hit
2024 47.2m cap hit
Data from sportrac
This contract actually gives us $15m in space this year compared to the tag, gets pricey year 3, but maybe We can restructure or extend, We can get out without excessive capageddon after year 3.

That would be less in the second year than I would expect, which would indicate that they don't plan on restructuring his deal that year. The third year is prime for a restructure, though. I wouldn't expect an extension after two years, though, but probably after the third year if he's playing at a high level. We could still restructure year 3 and then work out an extension in year 4. All of the money pushed forward by the restructure would just be included among his guarantees in the new deal.

One thing I love about dak is he works hard... he isn’t gonna get his contract and stop trying to be better. I wasn’t in love with the contract... but we can win with him.

In reality even if it turns out to be a bad deal... and he play poorly over two years. Your probably rebuilding at that point anyway and can afford to cut him.

was a right move to try and win now.

the more I thought about it, this deal might look sneaky smart for the team. THE TV deal is why.
Could be...I think in reality...it's a 2 year deal...that's the window for this team to win now...so it's go all in time. Jerry doesn't have much time left...Zeke doesn't have much tread left on the tires...same for Tyrone and Zack. Bad thing is...they still gotta go through Brady...and the defense has got to figure out what it is...

yea, i don't see us with a $42mil a year qb helping when the rest of the team needs so much. you need a balance and you need to make excellent player choices.

we don't seem to be able to do either.

oh well. i learned i can get through a year without watching the NFL.

Originally I was against the big money. I still think dak needs to play better in spots..... but.

looking around the league it’s hard to find a guy that not only plays well.... but works hard and is so well respected by those around him. Who’s a leader.

I’m not sure dak will ever be top 5 win games by himself qb.... but he’s top 10. You can win with that... now it’s up to the organization to make better moves.

If this works out you have your qb the next 10 years.... if not then you move on and rebuild in a couple. Who knows this contract could be a bargain in 3-4 years

The funny part is so many have vehemently stated their opinion we cannot win with a QB taking up 30% of the cap.

Dak is only going to take up around 10% of the cap in 2020 (at $185MM cap), maybe even less if the cap goes up.

The cap is going waaaaay up and Jerry knows it. The expected new TV deal could double which could give teams in the neighborhood of 400 million.

Both Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen will blow by Dak’s contract. In fact Dak’s contract will be middle of the road by the time Trevor Lawrence gets his second in three years. That dude will get 75 million a year.

I think Jerry did this because he KNOWS the disney deal is happening and he knows the cap is going to skyrocket

Not sure he KNEW it, maybe he did but based on his prior business dealings, from oil field exploration to buying the financially troubled Cowboys, seems to me he's looking at it from a risk perspective...

Would have been if it wasn't for a freak injury....you will have to settle for I pointed everyone in the right direction in finding our next head coach.
Kellen Moore was one of the worst NFL starting QB's ever. It wasnt a freak injury. He just sucked.

Like they had ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT!!

None of us are paying the bills, Eeyore. Don't act like you know ANYTHING about contracts and/or negotiations.

That Dak fans are satisfied or not has nothing to do with salaries WE pay or don't or contract negotiations, elderly Dirty Harry.
Can you not discern the difference?
Blimey, you jump to conclusions and presumptions faster than a frumpy maven in a hat shop.:muttley:
