Is it really time to panic?

The implication and reason the post was made was the belief that people are panicking because the Cowboys haven't done much.

The correct response is that panicking is the wrong word to use to describe what some fans have been expressing here. The correct word is to describe what many fans are feeling is frustration.
Fair enough.

Although it didn't work out, I didn't hear many complaints last yr with McCoy, Poe, Aldon, Griffen. Outside of Aldon, they weren't bottom of the barrel signings.

Actually they kind of were when you look at timing. Free agency officially started on March 18th last year. Poe was signed on the 9th of April. McCoy was signed on the 31st of March. Griffen was signed on Aug 6th.

None of those three were considered big time signings. They were typical Cowboys signings........... wait a week or two in FA, sign whatever is left over and hope it works out. It did not, again, for a variety of reasons (FWIW, I think Griffen's issue was more related to Nolan's usage than him being just a bad signing).

yeah we are not winning the division with this pathetic Defense and pathetic DTs.we cant stop the run when it matters and we cant win close games because of it.

wouldnt it be great if there was some sort of event where we could "pick" new players to help improve the team? Maybe let the teams pick based on how they did last year so that worst teams got 1st dibs on the new talent?

Man, that would be a good idea, someone should suggest that to the NFL.

So, if they got Harris, Neal or King at S. And Suh at DT, with one of the guys ranked above Awuzie, or Sherman....would everyone call it a successful free agency? There is still time to add quality players to major weaknesses.

don’t want Neal and don’t want Suh

give me Harris or King at FS
give me Daquon Jones at DT

That's been the ceiling since Dak was in diapers.

You spend a lot of time going on about the latest symptoms, apparently expecting the disease is somehow going to heal itself. It's not.

You'll be complaining about someone else when Dak is gone, just like the anti-JG crowd after his departure. Life in Jerry's world.

so your point is that fans should not have been complaining about Garrett?

:facepalm::facepalm:

It's a game so I'd say it's never time to panic. They are signing FA to fill holes and they will draft well again to plug even more holes. So no, it's not time to be more concerned.

I'd even take Kazee over Neal. Neal isn't a great athlete (relatively speaking) and I worry that they'd be banking on more on familiarity with Quinn than in can he actually make plays for us now.

I don’t want either
Neal is a SS which will mean we push Wilson to FS and dont address in the draft and Kazee is coming off major injury

For once, I want us to sign legitimate starters in FA at positions of glaring need

You say this but do they actually plug holes? DT has been an issue for a few years now. S has been an issue for a few years. They draft a lot of CBs and basically have only one they can count on left on the roster. And at the end of the day, you can't fill every hole with a competent player you just got in the draft. You have to use FA wisely.

The Cowboys suck at FA and it hurts them year after year. The results speak for themselves. You see a warm body signed in FA and think, good job, they filled a hole. But if the guy can't play and make an impact, is it a good job?

That was my point, even coming off an injury, Kazee seems like a better choice than Neal.

where are they going to find a DT at? serious question

I suspect they will follow last year's strategy. See what DTs are left sitting there next week or the following week that can be had on relatively cheap contracts. Most of the better ones are already off the board (or in the case of Brockers, traded). Maybe a guy like Shelton who was pretty good in NE two years ago, slides into that 2nd or 3rd week.

Then they will likely throw a mid round pick or two at DT and hope it works out. There are no DTs likely worth the 10th pick. If they trade back into the late teens or early 20s, maybe a kid like the Barmore kid from Bama makes sense. There could be some options at DT in the 2nd - Nixon for example, maybe McNeill.
