Why do so many Cowboys fans make better decisions than the Cowboys front office?

How many fans were sitting here pounding the table to draft Dak?

The day Dak was drafted Jerry was still lamenting having been outbid by Denver for the right to draft Paxton Lynch (bust).

Then he followed that by trying to trade up for Connor Cook (another bust) before settling on Dak a round later.

So let's not act like Dak was some shrewd front office move. He was a consolation prize who turned out to be better than the geniuses ever expected.

They don’t except only in hindsight.

Of course this is a lie.

There were NUMEROUS people that were saying before the draft to take Watt over Taco if both were on the board. One of the biggest was stasheroo for example. There were others as well. And Zeke was not a widely popular pick either because many posters believed the TB was an overvalued position in the NFL (and still do).

A blind squirrel finds an acorn every once in awhile. It was purely luck as you don't know the players mental makeup which is just as important as the physical skills if not more. Pure luck.

Ok thanks for admitting you made up your previous comment.

There you go deflecting the truth trying to hide from the fact you've been owned. Again. I don't take pride in that, but with you, you need a dose of reality.

Swiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing and a miss.

Man, you've gotta pretty much be blind not to see that several fans draft better than this org.

One thing I have noticed, though, the ones who accuse others of using hindsight generally have no clue.

Definitely not hindsight. Ramsey and Watt were 100% foresight.

Actually many people questioned Zeke's mental makeup based on reports that he partied heavily and took drugs in college. His character concerns plus the relatively low value/fungibility of the RB position made him a poor value choice for the 4th overall pick.

I don't remember anyone here doing that, but I'll take your word for it.

You literally lied. You first said people acted with hindsight in the criticisms of the Elliott and Taco picks and then a few posts later admitted that yeah people did call those bad picks before the draft (and start of their rookie seasons) but just got lucky in making those predictions.

You owned yourself............ in the span of a couple of posts. Well done.

I am sure there are some that resented the FO for selecting CeeDee Lamb last year. Not every fan will agree, or disagree with any moves.
Fans tend to complain because it is not what they want.

Drive down the highway, or a city street, or a back road. People will complain because the car in front of them is not doing what they want them to do.
Complain they aren't going fast enough so you can go faster, but yet, when a car passes you, you complain they are going too fast. :muttley:

So Jerry signs / drafts a player, one complains, if they pass on a player, one complains. But yet other teams are smart, because they signed or passed on that same player.

Because hindsight is 20/20.

How many fans were sitting here pounding the table to draft Dak? Fans don't know nearly as much as they like to pretend they do.
The Cowboys weren't pounding the table to draft Dak, either.

True. The most frustrating thing is the fans that act like our front office is beyond reproach! They have 3 playoff wins this century and yet they should not be questioned. The approach of signing scraps during free agency stinks. You don't need the 5 highest paid FA's every off season, but if you can add 2 to 3 quality starters in free agency and fill the other needs in the draft each year, you have a better chance of winning than expecting to fill every hole with the draft and the over the hill gang in free agency.

I didn't lie. Chill dude. I said none of us know here. We guess, but we don't know. You have to know the mental make up of a player to have any kind of an educated guess on what type of player he's going to be. It's even more important than the physical part in most cases. None of us know the mental makeup so it's just a crap shoot. You don't hear these guys when the pick wrong like you do all the time, you only hear when they get lucky, then they come here, pound their chests and act like they're Gods gift to the NFL Scout kingdom. So yes, it's all hindsight in my opinion.

Because more posters here spend more time on this as a hobby than the GM does as a job.

Wade Wilson was.

But again, that's not my point. My point is that the idea of fans making better decisions is stupid because it's easy to do with revisionist history, and it basically ends after the first round.

Ya kind of did. You said one thing - people who pointed out the Taco pick, for example, was a bad pick acted in hindsight. Then after being called out on that you said something totally different - people that criticized the Taco pick basically got lucky in predicting it would be a bad pick. So which was it? Did they act in hindsight or did they get lucky in predicting he'd turn out to be a bad pick relative to say, Watt?

Just own it and move on.
