I like Farley but I honestly don't like any of the guys who missed a whole year of football. If we take a LB it's gotta be a MLB and I like Zaven the best out of all of them, yes out of all of them and Parsons does scare me a lot. Off field concerns and he didn't play last year, something just seems off with this guy to me.
Yeah, it gives me some hesitation that some of these guys skipped the season, but it wouldn’t stop me from taking a guy I liked. It definitely could be a tie-breaker though.
Collins, I do like but I’ve been saying all offseason that I want some speed and quickness at LB. Jimmy Johnson had smaller, faster guys at LB and I loved how they played. Teams didn’t get to the edge against those defenses.
Those 6’5” LB’s like Collins (and LVE) don’t have the quickness for a 43 scheme, IMO. And I’m not really talking about their 40 times either. LVE ran a good 40 but tall guys lack the change of direction and lateral quickness that I like to have at LB. They lack the suddenness that I need at LB. Particularly at the Will LB spot.
Guys like Lavonte David in Tampa, Deion Jones in Atl (Quinn’s choice for Will), Darius Leonard... those guys are more what I have in mind for the Will position in Quinn’s scheme. Plus, as time goes on in the modern NFL, coverage is only becoming more and more important.
Koramoah is the epitome of the modern LB IMO. His speed is great, but what is more important is that his change of direction and lateral agility are rare for LB. He could do everything that Deion Jones can do, but he’s a better player IMO. He’s a bigger hitter and is significantly better in coverage. He’d be a chess piece that Quinn could use all over the field in probably every sub-package.
In a draft that lacks a dominant Edge rusher, a dominant DT and where the cornerback class is very deep, I’d be very happy with JOK and frankly, feel like he’d just about do more to help the defense than any of the other guys.
Something like:
Rd 1 - LB Koramoah
Rd. 2 - CB Stokes
Rd. 3 - DT McNeil
Rd. 3 - DE Basham
Would, IMO go a long, long way toward rectifying what was wrong on defense last year... with the addition of Quinn of course.
Am I expecting it to happen? No. But you can count me as one of the happy guys if JOK ends up in Dallas.
