I'm not against it. He's better than Armstrong and we can't be sure if Anae will be any good. Lawrence, Gregory, Basham and Smith would be a solid rotation. If Anae is any good, then he would need to force himself into that group.

I also think with the signing of Basham, we wouldn't need to play Aldon as much as we did last year, which might increase his effectiveness.

The answer is simple: how much?

Everyone has their price at the right price. For Aldon, this can't be high.

I planned on saying likewise and you beat me to it . . . arriving cheaply is always idea #1 for this FO, that's for sure! :D

No thanks, he did nothing after a hot start which was largely in part to all the attention D-Law was receiving...

Another reason why you would want him or Gregory opposite of DLaw. You need a competent DE that can take advantage of Dlaw being double teamed.

If Smith is brought back, and the addition of Brasham. Armstrong seems like a good one to get cut.

Why wouldn't you bring him back if you can get him for cheap? Not like we are loaded with talent at the position... or are we going to do like we do every year and try to solve all our problems in the draft? He was like 1 of 2 or 3 guys in FA that actually stuck, so letting him walk would make zero sense unless he was asking for a ton of money.

Must not be many teams making him offers.

Well, it wasn't like he tore it up last year. Got off to good start and plateaued. For a player with a checkered past, that's not super enticing to teams. He played a lot for us last year, more than a player coming off a long layoff should have. I don't know if he can give us more than he did with less playing time, but for the right price, five sacks is not bad production and much better than the half-sack Armstrong provided.

I don't mind bringing him back, you can't have enough pass rushers, just meant that he might be within the Cowboys budget.

I would bring him back if it was a reasonable deal AND it would not keep Gregory off the field. Randy Gregory needs to play 70% plus of the defensive snaps.

cheap isn't always better guys. THAT SAID, Anae is even cheaper and we have yet to allow the kid a fair chance at getting on the field because OF Aldon. IMO ANAE is already better than Aldon and it will be proven soon.

Another super cheap deal, yes. Hopefully they can keep his snap count down to keep his effectiveness up.
Yup....he was running on fumes by week 6....then kinda started to get his feet underneath him. Would like to see him come back in better football shape...but I wouldnt break the bank for him.

Thats the whole point...he did nothing but get in the way of Gregory having more snaps.
