It could be, or it could simply be a matter of the Seahawks realizing that they soon have to make Jamal Adams the highest paid safety in football and that they can’t afford to pay everyone.

Could very well be but, his contract ended after the 2021 season, why not let him walk after the year?

Good point. But I believe they saved significant money releasing him this year as well.

Here’s a blurb that mentions some numbers as well as other signings.

“That wording indicates he has been released, a move that will save Seattle $8.975 million in cap space and leave the club with $5 million in dead money. Most of that cash has already been spent on players like Benson Mayowa and Kerry Hyder.”

Ain’t it something that you guys are talking about a DT from Seattle in the same conversation with money taken up by two former deadbeats from here

Not trying to defend fumbling, because Elliott did it way too much last year before correcting the issue, but I think they have to be viewed on a per-carry basis. If a back has 100 more carries than another back, for instance, it's logical that he would also have more fumbles. Don't know if that's the case without looking at the numbers, but Elliott has been a high-volume back since coming into the league.

It looks like they’re not the same “deadbeats” elsewhere that they were here.

The fact that they did better elsewhere doesn't say good things about our coaching staff. Of course, you can say the opposite of some other players, like Robert Quinn. Sometimes, it's just a matter of fit.

Here's hoping Basham fits much better here than he did with the Jets. Same with Urban and Watkins, but I'm not expecting their production to be much different.

Free agency is basically over until after the draft.

I suspected Reed would be gone quickly but the rest are wait and see types....even the beloved KJ Wright.

Makes sense for both teams and players to wait it out at this date.

I’m still stunned that Reed didn’t have a better market. And that he essentially left the Seahawks to sign with the Chiefs for significantly less money this year.

I'm stunned that we haven't taken better advantage of this market. There are some starting DTs, LBs, and CBs that I would feel pretty good about heading into the draft.

I completely agree. I have two particular candidates that I think could really help improve this team, each at a cheap price.

I think OG Keleche Osemele and CB Blidi Wreh-Wilson can both make the 2021 Cowboys a better, deeper team, and neither would cost much.

And as you mentioned, there are several veteran defensive tackles still out there that could help improve today and bridge the gap until a younger player is ready.
