You dont need a TE that can do that. Rogers never had it nor did Brees or Wilson. QB is paid elite, RB paid/drafted elite, WRs, Tackles as well.

What does 'paid' have to do with it. Dak, Elliott, and Cooper are paid elite money but they are not playing elite. We have no idea what Collins or Tyron Smith are bringing to the table this year. Neither has been elite for a while.

We had a top 5 offense more than once, including the #1 offense, and we still couldn’t win games. We put up 38 points on the Browns, they put up 49 on us, Pitts wouldn’t help us win that game or several others. Points aren’t the problem stopping other teams from getting them is.

unless he helped us score 50 lol. more than one way to skin a cat

Some of you guys are incredibly dense. If the draft were full of Tacos (not a single defensive player worthy) and Tyron Smiths, you knuckleheads would still draft all Tacos and wonder why we can’t win. There are some incredibly stupid people on this board.

We need defenders. I get that. I acknowledge that. I want to see a defensive improvement as much as anyone. But drafting a reject doesn’t fix that.

i'd imagine if we were drafting with hindsight things would be much easier and most people would just want the best player irrespective of need. since the draft is a crapshoot though, need is an easier blanket to sleep with.

there's a reason tj watt went so late, no one projected him to be the guy he is.

dak was playing incredibly well before injury and cooper absolutely played elite

Unless a Gallup trade for a low 1st happens a move TE is not needed, they cant use Jarwin who is move TE, or a Noah Brown in the offense. He is speed bump at best as a run blocker. Go Defense at least the 1st two picks.

Ill take the elite talent if I can get it.
Always take the blue chip when they fall in your lap.
Its like saying the the most unlikely occurrence, Chase somehow is still there, I dont care what you have at WR, you take the player.

Just my thoughts but Only way I would take Pitts is if we trade Gallup for a proven CB/Safety.

We should trade Gallup regardless of Pitts. We're way overinvested at WR and need to spread the wealth to defense. We're arguably overinvested at WR even if we do trade Gallup. Spent our last two 1st for Cooper and Lamb.

Should have started shopping Gallup immediately after drafting Lamb.

Just my thoughts but Only way I would take Pitts is if we trade Gallup for a proven CB/Safety. I get the BPA approach but you gotta look at needs in certain situations. With our defense you have to take the best rated defensive player on your board because we need talent at literally every position. Not the best scheme fit, just the best defensive player.
Taking Pitts gives me martellus Bennett/Gavin escobar vibes all over again. Maybe best player at that time, but unlikely to have major impact because of who is already on the team..The reason Schultz/jarwin started looking good last year was because they were open due to defenses having to cover Cooper, Gallup, and Lamb, or Zeke...you put Pitts at TE, he absolutely gives us a more comfortable option but doesn't change the offense significantly until one of the big 3 WR or Zeke is gone. All while your defense is still trying to keep teams from scoring 40 points. It doesn't make sense. Only offensive position I'd take at 10 is OT and that's only cuz of Tyrons injury history but that's unlikely. Again, just my thoughts. Not looking to argue lol

Pitts ran a 4.44 and is just *way* more a proven talent than Escobar and Bennett were. I was thinking Pitts could have turned out to be a high class Escobar, but that was til that 40 time. That's WR speed. Faster than Gallup and Lamb. I think he's the 3rd WR, but giving us a lot more everywhere, including blocking.

I agree about OT the only position I'd want to take for the oline, but probably only if Sewell fell.

I agree about Jarwin/Schultz having an easy row to hoe. I'm especially unconvinced on Schultz.

My counter to picking at 10 for the defense, *given* that we have needs everywhere, I'd rather just trade back and take whatever players happen to fall to us. If they're defense, we can use them. Turn that 10 into 3 mid round 2nds. That would fill our defense with starters really fast.

They have invested a lot on the defensive side of the ball too. They have just generally sucked at it.

What has Quinn's draft record been like on defense?

The Front Office has no football guys. I suspect we've been deferring to the DC on the draft since Wade left. Probably last year with Nolan. And now this year with Quinn.

Who does he have as Numero Uno in this year's Draft?

Everyone has Lawrence at the top. Thats an easy one because he is a generational talent just like Andrew Luck and Peyton Manning. After that is where Kipers board usually is all over the map.

You can draft a receiver in the fifth round and we have Brown and Wilson that can step in and play
I think the argument is that Pitts has ridiculous potential and could be a top five tight end for the next ten years. It’s like last year with Lamb, though Pitts is likely to end up being the better player

I’m all for reloading the defense but I’m also cognizant of the fact that there are sometimes special players who can make such a big difference that you can’t pass them up.

It makes sense when you have so many offensive weapons.

Pitts will not be the #1, #2, or #3 option on 95% of the plays called.

A generational talent that will be under utilized doesn't make sense.

A defensive player that will play every down and be a force on defense that makes the team better, that makes sense.
He has the potential to be the best offensive player on any team that drafts him outside of a handful who have all-pro QBs or WRs

Pitts would pass Lamb and Gallup most likely and end up being one of those nightmare TE’s that wreck defenses game plans
