As long as he doesn't end up with another NFC East team

I'd be suprised if he did. Philly has Dallas Godert, Washington has Logan Thomas. Maybe NY? Engram has been disappointing.

A TE is a great security blanket to have for any QB and Dak would have at least 2 outstanding ones. It might open up running lanes for Zeke too if they think we might throw it to Pitts. How do ya defend that? lol...This league is about running the ball and spreading out the defense to make them defend every inch of turf. It actually would help the defense too.
lot of Super Bowl teams had great TEs

Pitts has the tape and great measurables. I still want Surtain at 10. This defense has to be competent and bring some balance to the flow of our game. Dak and the offense have to get into a rhythm, so the defense has to be able to get some three and outs. If our defense can compete and slow down opponents offense, our offense can build leads and then start to hammer Zeke. Then play action for big chunks of yardage.
You can find a guy to do what Surtain can in free agency.

You can’t find a Pitts. Jarwin and Schultz are solid. But Pitts has Kelce, Prime Ertz, Kittle, Gronk potential to just dominate games.

This is coming from a Surtain follower since day one.

I’m getting tired of DC Helman, dumb butt Cavanaugh and all the Cowboys media hyping up another OJ Howard.

Jerry better NOT DRAFT this guy when we have so much need on defense. The only players worth taking at 10 on offense are OTs Sewell & Slat. Otherwise trade down and get mote picks.

DO NOT RUIN THIS SEASON AGAIN WITH TRASH DEFENSE.:angry::angry::angry:

everyone wants to fix the defense but drafting crap defensive talent over game changing offensive talent just because you need defense is a recipe for suck. If we take a meh CB at 10 over Pitts just because we need defense and Pitts becomes what some think he may, probowl TE we will rue it because we could’ve just signed a meh CB in FA, why did we waste a top ten pick on average talent? The talent just isn’t there at ten on the defensive side of the ball. Not a single defensive player worth a top ten pick. This is the issue and part of the reason some of us like Pitts as a possible pick.

If Surtain was Deion sanders I would draft him 100% at 10...but he aint a ball hawk. Its not what he is. He is a technician, crafty. Pitts at 10 makes sense if hes there just from a pure value standpoint on your draft board. You pass on him, your giving up getting Randy Moss crossed with Darren Waller...Kid is special.

Not many have this opinion of him but I will say this.....I share similar views. I do not think the impact he had in college will translate to the pros and especially this offense. I just don't view him as a tight end. Guys in the NFL are just as big and fast as he is. What would really get me excited about a guy like this is if his blocking was as good as his measurables......

No they're not.. If this were true then guys like Calvin Johnson and DK Metcalf would not look like such complete mismatches out there as often as they do. I'm not saying we should or shouldn't take Pitts.. but you don't draft a guy like that make him an in-line blocker. You ever see Jimmy Graham, Tony Gonzales or Antonio Gates block? Me neither.. This kid is more talented than any of them.. Guys like him will improve as a blocker as their bodies fill out and they hone the technique. But you can't teach 6'6" 250 with 4.4 speed.

I would love 11 taco's. Talent doesnt matter as long as the player is picked on defense.

Did I say Tacos? Got to love the dummies that go right to the Straw-man arguments. How about Surtain or Parsons? Both very good defenders. Dummies like you were probably clutching your Zeke jersey because he was the “best player available.” How’s that look now? The defense was historically bad last year. They need help at every level. Don’t be stupid and try to win 50-49 every week. Build a defense for once.

He'll be gone in the top 5. He's great and he's being hyped even more. Atlanta and Miami won't pass on him, even if the phins have a solid TE.

The same that Surtain is a generational too, or just that you wouldn't complain?

Hard to pass on Pitts, though that would make us Detroit, taking 3 1st round picks in a row as WRs. Don't like that.

Surtain, I just don't need him at 10. Surtain seems much more ordinary. After Mo, I'm not trusting college DBs on dominant teams. Makes it too easy to look dominant yourself. I'm not a fan of drafting CBs that high unless they're physical freaks.

And either of those guys amounts to yet another CB/WR. Last two first were WRs, and last 2nd pick was a CB.

If I'm picking at 10, I want a special player or at least a premium position. The league may think otherwise, but I don't consider CB a premium position, and Surtain don't seem like a freak to me.

I wouldn't complain if it was Surtain, mainly because the need for a capable CB is so extreme. Whether you want him at 10 or not, Jerry and son are famous for adhering to chasing need picks, outside of last year, of course, when CeeDee Lamb came as a nice surprise to one and all.

I'd like nothing better than to see someone like Kyle Pitts or Parsons become our pick at #10 but if pressed at gunpoint to predict it, I'd guess It'd likely be Surtain, simply because they'll usually go the need route, rather than the best talent available. I'll see what this year has to offer before pinning my hopes on a probable disappointment. Pitts or Parsons, I'd like a lot, among others, who might very well go early-on in the first round.

That's funny. I have no faith in them picking defense *in* the first. Taco, LVE, almost Jaylon. That's a grim record lately.

6th round, we've been pretty good at value there.
Yeah....well I'll say this they don't pick defense often enough in the 1st round for me to have a bad taste in my mouth. They surely don't do it in the top 10.

I'm not saying make him a in-line backer. I'm saying for what I want for my team I need a tight end that can block just as good as he can pass catch. If I wanted a receiver I'd just put one there.

And yes in the NFL there are plenty of guys who are 6'2-6'4 who can run a 4.4-4.6 on defense.

I've seen Kittle and Kelce block plenty as well as be threats in the passing game. I can justify those guys being in the top 10 and even they weren't. They were later round guys. Same goes for Darren Waller.

My philosophy on drafting has always been get the guy who can have the biggest impact on your team. The higher the pick the sooner you want the impact. That's why I had no issue with the Zeke pick. A guy who was going to touch the ball 25 times a game was going to have a greater impact than pretty much any non-QB at the top of the draft. Pitts is not on the same level as Zeke because he isn't likely to even average 5 touches a game unless we really revamp our offense. That means that realistically Parsons or Surtain would have a higher potential to impact the game earlier. Unfortunately for Surtain, rookie corners typically impact the game negatively more often than positively.. He might be the exception.. but that's certainly not etched in stone. Parsons' speed and athleticism cannot be overstated. He also plays closer to the ball than a corner obviously so his potential for impact plays is higher than either Pitts or Surtain. But again, there's that whole rookie thing.. I would have to go back and watch his 2019 tape to be sure but I do seem to recall that Penn State's defense that year was nasty.. and he was a big part of why. Still he only played two seasons in college and was a DE who recorded a whole 6.5 sacks in 25 games.. He's kinda the classic fast, freakish athlete who may or may not be great at football. That's awfully risky at #10 IMHO. And where are the Cowboys going to play him? He's kind of a 3-4 OLB in body type. Which of course.. we don't play.. or do we? To be honest, trading down and picking up a corner and couple interior defenders would not bother me at all.
