All the BPA guys were clamoring for Ruggs if he was there. "We have to take him"!!!!

What a huge mistake THAT would have been?

Although I freely admit that Pitts is a much better prospect overall than Ruggs was.

Well if you do that we can say remember Lamb... everybody was saying we SHOULD take him. If we draft for need then we are stuck with K. Chaisson soooo lol

For WRs I remember Jefferson, Jeudy, and Lamb being the top prospects. Ruggs and Reagor got a lot of attention for speed. I think what the Raiders and Eagles did was pretty stupid. Not saying they won't turn out to be good. But I wouldn't be surprised if they got exactly what they drafted, punt returners.

I think if you could have picked a WR last year, any WR, most of this forum would have said Lamb or Jeudy.

Pitts and Ruggs as players are nothing alike so don't get the connection unless you're strictly talking offensive weapon. Waddle is very much like Ruggs.

Similar, but not the same. Lamb was widely considered the #1 WR. So it was highly unlikely he would drop. Most thought Ruggs might drop as the #3 best WR in the draft and still wanted him as BPA.

Ruggs had speed
Pitts has actual skill
He’s about as good a TE prospect as we’ve seen in a long time
But I still wouldn’t draft him because offense is not why this team isn’t good

He wasnt there....and the jury is still out on ruggs.

This thread is a head scratcher. Or maybe a butt scratcher? Something definitley stinks, though.

LOL, then that would be the latter. Something you really don't wanna scratch and sniff. I'll take your word on it.

That is not at all how I remember things. "All the BPA guys" certainly were screaming for Lamb. Beyond that, there wasn't any sort of consensus about who BPA was at 17.

Are we handing out final grades one year in?

Should players be drafted for instant production (Zeke ring a bell?)?

I honestly don't remember too much Ruggs talk on here.

How would Ruggs been a mistake here? Who is to say him and Dak couldn't build chemistry/Moore used him efficiently his rookie year?

Were talking about people clamoring to take him if he WAS there. Pre draft discussion. Like what we are doing now about Pitts. Which would have been a huge mistake.

So what? It's not like anything is going to change.
Before the jumping to conclusions happen: I clamored for nobody. I don't claim to be a Draft expert.

You must have missed it. Every year we get the BPA offensive guys that want the next big play maker on offense. Last year it was Ruggs. Lamb and Jeudy were both expected to go well before our pick. Jeudy would have been a mistake as well.

Just pointing out that these cant miss type prospect often miss. Not sure I really have a point after that.
