At Alabama, wide receiver DeVonta Smith was listed at 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds. At the school’s Pro Day, Smith declined to be measured or weighed, but said his weight was 170. It turns out he’s a little smaller than that.

Albert Breer of SI.com reports that Smith was weighed and measured at the recent medical check for NFL prospects in Indianapolis, and Smith actually measured at just over 6 feet tall, and 166 pounds.

Not a huge surprise, but it will be interesting to see if he slides below the 12-15 range.

Wonder how many 160 pound receivers have succeeded in the NFL?
I'm guessing not many. DJax was 169 when he came out.

Brandon Banks is the smallest I can find - was with Washington back in 10-12. 5'7 150lbs.

He will be the top 10 prospect that will drop.

I love the guys skill and the way he competes but that is small. I’m 6’1 and 200. If I was 166 I’d be sickly looking. I know he’s got a lot more muscle mass..lol..than me but overall that just seems slight

But overall Im not sure how he fails with what I saw this past year.

I think the only issues will be is that he won’t be able to carry an offense. If he’s asked to run every route and face other teams 1s and take abuse (Baltimore). But if he lands with a team that has legit weapons and he can do what he does best, he will be exciting.

Reminds me so much of Ted Ginn (5-11, 177). Drafted by Miami who had no talent and he stunk it up. But he’s carved a nice career out of being parts of solid rotations

I dont care what his measurements are lol.

All I know is this guy is a football player and will be a stud scorer in the NFL.

Anyone who was looking at Jeudy last year saw Smith tear it up.

This may be the "surprise" top 10 pick.

Yes there are guys that seem can’t miss and don’t get in good situations. I remember Peter Warrick and thinking he was so phenomenal after the catch at Fla St. But in Cincy it was just flashes and then out after 5 yrs. I think Smith had more overall skill but needs room to show it. But I also saw him make some great contested catches so it will be interesting

I posted this topic 2 or 3 days ago about Devonta Smith being too skinny add to it a 4.48 forty which is average falling out of the 1st round. Every troll here wanted to laugh and criticize me. I'm glad people besides me are waking up. I think Devonta gets relegated to like Ted Ginn & Desmond Howard a slot/ returner in the NFL for his career . There is no way Devonta Smith with that small size will hold up as a NFL #1 WR. You send him over the middle with 220 lbs Safeties that can run faster than him and he will get killed.

Just like several months ago I had Mac Jones over Justin Fields & Trey Lance in my mocks. Every Turd Troll saying the worst about me here. Now it's about to happen. .

Smith will be interesting. I don't think he's an every down player.
And that to me knocks him down the board.
Once you get to the NFL there are no awards for collegiate success.

166 pounds when weight is the knock and you've been doing all you can to gain weight doesn't seem good at all.

Would not shock me if he fell like Lamb last year.
All that said, I think I like him better as a weapon SPECIFICALLY for Dallas at 15 then Pitts at 10.

You cross train Lamb at X, Z.
Gallup and Smith basically share time this year. Both making big plays.
Seems an easier path than working in Pitts.

He can still play. Remember there was a qb 21 years ago who was 6'4" 210lbs and all the experts said he was going to get killed and would not be able to handle the NFL because of his size. I think Tom Brady has done pretty well for himself. I know it is a different position but still you never know.

Smith is taller than I thought he was so that will help him but being 165 pounds is going to be a problem especially when he lacks top end speed. The short area quickness is good which we saw time and again in college but receivers his weight who cannot just flat out fly will get ridden out of bounds the minute you line him out wide. Anybody saying he would be easier to integrate into the offense than Pitts isn't paying attention. Barring something unforeseen Smith would be the #3 receiver at best in our offense.. Pitts would be TE1 the day he walked in the door.

Here is who Devonta Smith reminds me of and that's Desmond Howard . Just like Devonta, Desmond was a good route runner.4.4 speed and won the Heismann. The problem he wasn't very big. NFL prototype is like Terell Owen's 6-3,220 lbs. Who can run like a freightrain passing you.Howard ended up a returner bounced around the league after being taken in the Top Ten(I think 4th overall) and didn't even have 2000 yards in his NFL career in receiving.

This is what happens if Devonta goes over the middle . Little WR got knocked out cold by LBer Quinton Coryatt. That was TCU's star WR that year.
