Video: Broaddus' Latest On The Cowboys' Draft Plans | GBag Nation

Don't trade out of ten either way. Ffs sit tight and take a top level player

There is something to be said about getting your guy too. What happens if Surtain winds being an All Pro, and that second round guy ends up being Chido Awuzie? Or you settle for Horn at 10, and Surtain ends up having the much better career and that 3rd round pick you saved ends up somewhere else after his rookie deal.
The flip side is Horn becomes the better pro and we draft another quality starter on a cheap contract. There are several people who think Horn is the better player.

It’s stupid enough to take a CB at 10 in this draft where the guys at the top are not that much better than the guys in late rd 1 and early 2, but it would be absolutely crazy and moronic to trade up for a CB or to 4 for a TE

if there is a way to screw up the draft you can bet the moron father son combo is in on it

I think this is a little harsh - sorry but until they actually do something dumb like this lets not beat them up for something that didnt happen

The "moron father son combo" has actually done really well for awhile now in the draft. Last year was an insane good draft. But overall they have been pretty darn good.

I agree trading up would be stupid but these talking heads dont know if they would actually do it. Its all to get ratings. Last year they left Diggs fall to them and they considered moving up to get him. I think they are smart enough to know better than moving up. If anything I could see them moving down to get more picks

But your statement implied the drop off from Surtain to the second round CB's isnt that big. Surtain is a significantly better CB, and far more likely to be a #1 CB in NFL. Sometimes if you really feel you need a player, you have to be aggressive. You can burn yourself getting cute and thinking that the lesser player is going to provide you with "value". If they really feel Surtain is that much better for them than Horn, then you may have to get agressive and get your player. People reference the Claiborne trade an awful lot while ignoring the Bryant trade. Sometimes it pays to go get your guy

Expecting a 2nd round CB to be a #1 CB is buying a lottery ticket. Dont get me wrong, there are some pretty good 2nd round CB's in this draft. But if Im asked to lay down my money on if any specific one is going to be a quality CB, I'm putting it on "no"

I really think you are overrating Surtain. He is a good, high floor player, but is consider more of a future solid starter. If not for Farley getting hurt, there was a good chance he wasn't even going to be the first corner taken. The likes of Joseph, Stokes, Melifonwu plus keeping our pick at 75, who should be a starter on a cheap contract, is far better then just adding Surtain. Losing that pick could mean no Safety or DT adding in day 2, no thanks! If you are hell bent on getting a corner, just take Horn or trade back for Newsome, who many think has a chance to be the best in the class.

So you top three picks would be Surtain and Milton Williams? That's a disaster. Yes, Joseph, Stokes, Melifonwu aren't that far as they do possess elite, athletic traits. No, they aren't as polished as Surtain, but that have the potential to become better pros. I would rather keep my third and draft 1 of the three, take Horn or trade back and get Newsome.

Broaddus said he expects both the Lions and Panthers to bail. That doesn't mean someone is coming up for Surtain. The only player I'm trading up for is Pitts, cause he has generational type of talent for his position.

If your thinking a guy we are taking in the 2nd round is close to Surtain, you are either grossly underrating Surtain or grossly overrateing the quality of the 2nd round CB's in this draft.

Like I said before, making trades isnt optimal. But getting ****** and having someone take the player you targeted from you is even worse. It doesnt matter if its Surtain or Sewell or Pitts or whoever. Sometimes you have to be agressive and get your guy

So you are calling me on liking a guy you dont like now? Come on now. And I said Id be fine with Williams at 44. I didn't say he was my first choice.

Weren't you pimping a short armed LB with a 16% missed tackle rate in Bolton? Its not like we all don't like someone with some question marks?

I dont like him. He acts like a draft expert yet he's no different than you and I.
There are some people who really study the draft year round like Brugler. OTOH there are plenty who use other people's research and hold themselves out to be experts. Not hard to figure who is who.

This was just posted. As much as you can trust "insider information" a week before the draft he says there might be another coaches vs. scouts division on the CBs. If true hopefully it works out better than the Taco Watt fiasco.

Really depends on your boards final grade. But trading back to 15 might be the thing to do but no further. you might still have some combination of Parsons, Horn, Newsome, Phillips, Barmore available here. I'm not trading to 20 where the best defensive players might all be gone. Again it really depends on how you put your board together overall.

Holy hair, Broaddus. He's going from looking like Uncle Fester to Doc Brown.
