Trade Down

Unless a starting T or Pitts is there at 10, I'm trading down. Plenty of big bodies for 1 & 3 techs in later rds, as well as depth at LB, Edge, and CB2.

In most of my fools gold mocks I wind up trading down, and taking Moehrig near 20, and stacking big needs in later rds.

What are your thoughts? I'm insanely excited for tomorrow guys. There's a lot of talent on the defense this year. This is the rare moment I'm optimistic. I'm just scared about getting QB2 in the draft. It's a glaring issue.

It would be nice to see them invest at DT. If they can get the best interior dlineman of the draft, they should take it. They need a disruptive force in the middle of the line more than CB. They weren't getting picked apart last year as much as they were getting ran over.

I'd still want top 20 pick, plus an extra 2,3 and 4 or 5.
Cow-girls need bodies, and good players can still be had at 2 - 5.

Absolutely agree with you. All of these mock drafts are exercises in futility. Jerry and the Cowboys are going to be meandering up and down the board. I wouldn't be shocked if they traded down twice and ended up with all kinds of picks to trade back up at the right time.

I am predicting that the Cowboys end up with three of the top twelve defensive picks in the draft.

That would be awesome & it's definitely needed.

I'm fine with a trade down depending on how the board falls before 10. If Surtain and Horn are there and if one of the very high premium offensive players somehow fell I 100% feel they should entertain offers for a few steps back. I'd be fine with Horn a bit farther back at the cost of Surtain. I'd also be happy, depending on the pick haul, of Christian Barmore a bit father back as long as DB got addressed in the 2nd.

There's a lot of good draft capital to spend and the defensive talent is going to go a bit later in this draft. It could be a good time to stockpile picks and play hot and heavy in the 2nd and 3rd.

If there was a disruptive force at DT then teams would covet him

We already have plenty of draft capital, it's just pure greed that would drive a person to trade down for more. There is plenty of talent available at the 10th pick so make a selection.

There's apparently not a defensive pick worth coveting. Why not get Barmore? He could probably start day 1. The weakness of the team was the interior defense against the run.

Barrimore is a decent prospect but certainly not worth a top 10 pick
Why target a top 20 player when there will be top 10 players who can be had at a position of need
A DT in the second I think is one of 3 possibilities along with safety and LB
Maybe if we could add another second somehow we might get 2 of the 3
Everyone wants a better DT but you can’t get what’s not there

A DT is needed much more than a CB. Why would you address the bigger problem with inferior talent? (2nd rd DT)

Which position is deeper, DT or CB?

Drafting for need is reaching and reaching rarely works
CB is a big need
We have 3 viable players at CB and one could be facing a suspension
And he’s the best one
Brown and Lewis are not guys you won’t starting
They are guys you want at 3rd or 4th CB
I would rather get an impact DT than any position but they aren’t there to get

You overestimate them there 3-5's.
I think you might overestimate how this team picks their 2's!
I was just talking in general term. There has been many good players select in the middle rounds. Probably many HOFers.

I only trade down if NE trades us Gilmore and their 15th pick. That would give us 2 starters in the 1st round
