I'll clear up my opinion from an earlier post here. I have no reservations on Parsons talent or character. I do have concerns on his snaps and usage by the team. I don't see him getting a fair share of snaps if LVE/Smith miraculously stay healthy. I could be wrong and I hope I am. IMO, a 12th overall non QB pick should see a lions share of his positional snaps to justify the pick. That being said, kudos for him and the team, let's keep the D picks coming

This guy will be on the field. He's a 3 down LB who will have a huge role. If anything they start either phasing out LVE or trade someone.

Please...
These linebacker evaluators hopefully are old enough to have watched Lawrence Taylor play. That was the LB freak.
But this is how the resident Parsons family experts are hyping him up here.

Show me how much he impacts team wins and losses on "this" roster and then get back to me when Tyron gets hurt, Collins or both and Dak is running for his life or on his back.

But yeah...

Would have been nice to have drafted Slater, but then again we can also say, what does it matter if we have a nice offense if LVE is injured again and the defense is giving up 45 to 50 points a game. At some point we have to start shoring up this defense.

Late to the party but I am not mad at the Parsons pick either. We need a thumper at linebacker to replace the China Dolls we have/had at the position in the past.

With Horn/Surtain II off the board, seems like a no brainer pick for Dallas plus added another 3rd. Sucks that Denver took Surtain right from under our nose but that just shows to win meaning less games at the end of a disappointing season does have consequences for the future.

But you guys were all ok for drafting a swing tackle this year.

The whole offseason narrative is just getting the defensive group back to mediocrity because this offense is most assuredly The Greatest Show on Turf part 2.

But as simply put as a non excuse based Dak supporter here previously said..."I expect this team to win a lot of 49-42 games."

The ones with the excuse ready agendas already are loading up on "it's still the defenses fault scenarios."

My central point continues to be that with almost 200 million in guarantees to your offensive skill positions, how do you explain to your fan base that Steele, Knight or Neske is a credible backup plan when Smith or Collins or both goes down.

It makes zero sense from a financial investment perspective nor from who impacts team wins and losses more perspective.

Sorry so long winded but I just don't see the logic.

REGARDLESS of the defense, lol.

Uhm, no...I never wanted Slater. Once the CBs were gone I was hoping for a trade down with NE or Chi for a Moehrig or Barmore. Really once Sewell was off the board, I didn't see an OT with a 1st rnd grade. Its done, and Barmore and Moehrig are still available, so let's see how tonight goes

The fan segment just absolutely destroyed this pick just now.

I like some of the fan guys.

But a lot of them are also “team 40 burger” let’s just pass the ball all day long.

they don’t know how to win football games.

The cowboys best seasons recently have come when Sean Lee managed to stay relatively healthy and/or they got really good LB play.

think about it. 2014 they had rolando McLain who managed to behave for one season and was a difference maker

2016. Sean lee stayed healthy and went all pro.

2018 the one year Jaylon and LVE were healthy and playing well together.

but now they want to all argue that Lb play doesn’t matter.

it’s nonsense and stupid.

it’s like they aren’t paying attention. The only time the cowboys have been even decent on defense in the past decade. Was when they had guys making a difference at LB.

And now they want to poo poo the cowboys drafting one of the best Lb prospects in years and an absolutely insane elite athletic talent.

It’s stupid. It’s absolutely stupid.

I foresee trading up tonight for a starting FS, 1T and CB, not sure about the order. It will be a great draft at the end of the event.

Even if Kazee (sp) starts initially, he's suspect due to the Achilles injury. Of course, I wish him the very best.

I’m fine with the pick. I would have preferred Surtain but I’m fine with this pick especially given we got another 3rd along with Parsons.

the bottom line for me though is that I try not to get excited or deflated with draft picks. We won’t know how they truly are going to play/pan out until they hit the field. Dallas was murdered for drafting Fredbeard in the first and there was a lot of negativity in the fan base as a result. Everybody was wrong.

They just have to hit the field before we know. With that said, Parsons looks legit to me, but as I said I’m not getting overly excited until there’s an objective reason to get excited.

Exactly. In the minuscule amount of time I spent looking at prospects this year, Parson was one of the few that stood out to me.

Either way, he will need to prove it on the field and no amount of whining or praise will change that.

Now if we drafted a punter at 12, then I would have been upset.

yeah. They are judging this pick and thinking it's dumb because this is a passing league even though he would help against the run. Therefore, he calls him an overrated prospect and a project. Liked his upside but he wanted Slater. This was on the K&C Masterpiece. Not saying I agree with them at all. Just sharing what they said on the radio. It was really by two dudes called Zack and Eric on safespace or something.

Parsons doesn't appear to be all that bright...nor does he admit to be a real student of the game....he admitted last nite, to simply being a reactionary player. That being said, I'm thinking we still don't have on this team the future on field signal caller and organizer....especially with LVE and Jacklyn Smiths time becoming short.
