How much better is this team?

I have no trouble drafting defense. It was clearly the team weakness.

I like the pick of Parson. The 2nd round Kentucky CB is a starter almost by default. And the wrestler with long arms may have potential if he can gain 10-15 pounds of muscle.

But replacing Dorance Armstrong with another scrub solves nothing. Rounds 4-7 is nothing more than a crap shoot.

In the end, the needle hasn't really moved much at all. We are still a 8-9 win team in my view. And the culture problems are still there

Thoughts?

We aren't better.

The only rookie we can even pencil in as a potential starter for sure is parsons and that is either as a weak side LB in base defense only or as a pass rush specialist. Either way he might get 30% of the snaps, maybe. Like most years injuries may force some rookies to start but that is not the plan as of today.

We are a bit better with Parsons, I would take him over any LB we currently have.

What is infuriating about this team is how they suck you in and then pull the football away at the last second.

The first two picks were outstanding, and had the draft continued like that I actual started to have hope our defense would improve dramatically.

Then we draft projects and 7th rounders in the 3rd, nope all hope is gone. We might get some players out of the 3rd, but they look like projects not yet ready for the NFL.

Not overly impressed. I think they improved more from the new DC and scheme than the draft to a degree.
Parsons and Joseph are immediate upgrades and should be day 1 starters or Joseph will be by mid season. The other 2 picks I feel...meh...They drafted more for need than BPA, and still did not do a great job. Wright is totally a reach.

I will live with it and hope they work out, they could. As long as this group helps gets us to the top 18, or 15 ranked defense. That should be good enough for a few more wins. Offense stays healthy, that is good enough for a few wins. so a 6-10 swing to a 10-6 swing, plus one additional win or loss with the extra game.

I will have my wait and see attitude, just as I had a month ago.

When your team is run by people who are completely unaccountable for wins and losses, this is what you get. The Jones cartel runs this thing like it’s their own private party that fans are supposed to enjoy watching. It’s nauseating.

you must have overlooked FA as well with 3 DL and a s /SLb hybrid and this draft is simply Quinn trying too get the right players for his scheme..most on ther sau Joseph ws not default pick, he has first raound talent grade, balzing speed and edge..this defense IMO is already improved a new staff with vision and now players they brought in in FA/Drfat to excute it..

Scheme quinn over Nolan =Improved

just because Dorrance turned out to be scrub doesnt mean these guys will..

staying on that subject

Basham is better then Dorance -improved
Urban is better then tCraw- improved

Watkins, anou, carter is depth and thes draft picks along the OL will compete for backup spots because Gallimore will make jump and Hill has chance to show improvement, add to it Woods is back..

so theres a lot of depth and competition coming in for DL positions, i like it..Quinn will get to shake this up nd put together the puzzle the way he feels he will have complete defense.

Kazee, neal, =Improved over 23 and whomever else we had in chae drill at S to go with Wilson....Improved

Lastly FA and Draft not over yet. Roster cut down more player will be cut and signed before game 1..

lets wait and see how it comes together before poopooing all of it.

Too soon to tell but I am disappointed in this draft and I was good with Parsons, after that? Naaaah. Hope I am wrong but ya know something? I am tired of hoping I am wrong and being right. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it is not a swan.

And to make it worse, Booger will play the lead in The Emperor's Clothes and brag on himself. He thinks he scored, that's how bad he really is at evaluating GM's.

The other thing that comes to mind. I tell myself a lot during the seasons. I am glad I sold my PSL's.
And after this draft so far, I can't say it enough. :muttley:

I hope this works out of course, but it is almost like I don't care what they do today. It will be all PS player type picks.
I will need a week to let it digest, and look at all the players they draft, then come to a conclusion. Trying to not have any knee jerk reactions, or trying to keep them to a minimum.

They need to give Earl Thomas a call.

Scheme and getting healthy is going to have to be our big improvements.

It’s looking like a wasted offseason that leads to another wasted year.

The desire to bring in an over the hill, pain in the rear player is peculiar to me.

You grade on a curve.

The only real clear upgrade is Quinn for Nolan and that's not because Quinn is some genius. It's because Nolan was a turd.

This defense will be middling at best. It still lacks real talent, especially at positions such as DT and S where the play last year was screaming for a serious talent infusion. No, Urban and Kazee aren't serious talent upgrades.

Oh, yeah, I stopped listening to last nights PC. They were acting like they did great. Saying they stuck to their board, got the players they wanted. Even said they turned down trades to accumulate picks next year. Because they did not want to lose the player they wanted. As if justifying the pick. Thing is, they could have got that player later anyway.
It was a true SMH moment.

Have you looked at our team?

He’s not super old for a safety. Safeties like him can play well into their 30s.

Very true, they want quantity not quality.

Roster spots. Cheap roster spots. That's what Stephen basically said yesterday and they went into the 3rd round (and I expect more bizarreness today in the 4th) looking not for the best talents but rather the best "fits" that could fill specific depth holes they believe they have and do it at rookie bottom barrel prices.

Oh, we lost Crawford? Well we need that undersized DT who can play DE too again! Oh, Armstrong is probably done? Well we need an identical guy in Golston!

It's going to be funny when two years from now, half these guys aren't even on the roster. Great cap savings there, Stephen.

Yeah.

I also looked and saw a S who was such an awful teammate, pretty much the entire team in Baltimore went to the front office and requested he be sent packing. Then no other team would come within 400 miles of him. Throw in the fact that he wasn't even all that good in Baltimore when he did play, it's strange you keep wanting to bring him in here.

You literally are suggesting we bring in a guy who isn't very good and is a total pain in the *** on top of that. How does that make sense?
