It's been awhile posting on fan zone. Dan Quinn stated yesterday that the team will be using a 3-4 Defense in their base (obvious run downs) and a 4 man line in the nickel. He confirmed that Neal will be playing linebacker moving forward. How would the run alignment look:

4 Linebackers-Lve, Jaylon, Parsons, Neal
Box SS-Wilson
LE-Tank
NT-Urban
RE-Goldson/Oggy/Watkins (all can easily play the 5T)
Yes, don't think Gregory or Gallimore/Hill play on the early downs.

I truly believe our run defense will be vastly improved.

Not a "pure" 3-4. It's more like this.

Quinn said 3-4 base but since this is a passing league he said 70% of the time we won't be in base defense. Which I'm thinking means we will have a solid rotation and Gregory will have ample opportunities on the field.

I wonder how much of this hire was to maximize what we do with Jaylon as well?

I agree our run defense will be much better.

Do you not think Gregory could also play some LBers - 3-4

Do we have another defense that doesn't play to Lawrence's strength?

Honest question. Everything I've seen has me.wondering where Lawrence plays

The Cowboys were at their best when they platooned Crawford with Gregory a few years back. Golston is a very similar player to Crawford. They will only be in their base alignment like 30% of the time, where Gregory will see plenty of snaps to rush the QB.

For the majority of the snaps, Tank will be playing the same role as he has since he was drafted.

As Quinn said, we'll be in a nickel 4 man line 70% of the time. So he'll just play his normal LDE in the nickel.

In the base, could see Golston playing the 4T, he has the necessary length to fit well. NT is going to be Urban. Odggy/Hill/Gallimore is the 3T and Tank plays the Leo.

Interesting Golston was one of those what the hell day 2 picks but the more I read about this kid, he's solid. Good pick...

We will still be in a defense that maximizes Dlaw the majority of the time. If anything maybe this keeps him fresh, but he will be on the field at DE plenty.

3rd rd pick from Iowa.

The one everyone else had going in the 5 or 6th round?

These rookie DL arent going to do squat this year and you know it. They didnt get ANY starters along the Dline in this draft.

Lawrence, Gallimore, Urban, Gregory. That is our line this year unless someone gets injured. These other cats maybe come in sparingly to give breaks in some kind of rotation if they are even on the game day roster.
