Ah, memory lane.

It’s an oft-traveled road by all human beings in this life — a prodigiously deep highway with hundreds — better yet thousands of diverse memories. Some are wildly pleasant to reminisce upon, while others incite feelings of curt destitution. All though, represent imaginative pictures and stories that remind us of our once-present toils as we glimpse through a figurative looking glass to the past.

And if you’re a Cowboys fan (at least one that was born before the 1990’s), you likely have dozens of memories of the team’s great exploits tucked away in your brain’s happy place. These thoughts are safely guarded with all of your willpower so as not to allow disturbance — especially ones that can be caused by the team’s putrid performance as of late.

Yes sir. That's exactly why despite our defensive woes I was on board with taking Slater at 10. Hell, when Sewell started to drop my excitement level shot through the roof. Ultimately I knew it was too good to be true.

I'm pumped we got Parsons, but Slater was tough to pass on. I hope we can inject another stud or develop one soon. I'd love for awesome Olines to stay synonymous with the Dallas Cowboys. It has been for quite awhile now.

Yeah I was getting excited when Sewell started to fall a little. Dallas is going to have to start replacing them. They should be in good position to get one in the 2022 draft.

I wouldn't call it an "era"....hardly. Call it a period of wasted opportunity

Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick, Zack Martin, and La' el Collins played together for four seasons.

Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick, and Zack Martin played together for five seasons.

During the 7 seasons in which Tyron, Fredericks, and Martin were on the team, there was 17 total Pro Bowl recognitions. There was a 4 year period in which Flozell Adams, Andre Gurode, and Marc Columbo combined for 10 Pro Bowls, proportionally equal.

During his first five seasons, Tyron Smith missed one game. In the past 5 seasons he has missed 26 games. Of course, the Cowboys have to get their typical share of bad luck. They lost the best center in the game to a rare disease. La' el Collins finally gets paid and he takes a year off to still unexplained circumstance. They are hiding something.

The fact that the Cowboys had put together a fantastic line should be considered a tragedy when you consider the team's lack of playoff success and the sad way in which the line is unraveling. It culminated in 2021 with both tackles being replaced by tackles that had to be replaced. Before the season, we learned about losing our All Pro center, Fredericks. Again, La 'el was a no-show for 2021. Joe Loony started only 12 games, Even Zack Martin was out after 10 games. The only original offensive starter to play all 16 games in 2021 was Connor Williams.

Still, it doesn't have to end, there is a possibility this line can be reinvigorated by a center, Biadacz, who exceeds expectations. The rest would be up to the veterans to stay healthy and recommit to being the best they can be. The best medicine would be winning through a prolific offense that played up to their potential.

I would get more excited if this FO knew what kind of team they want to build. It seems like they just draft “good players” without much blueprint for what they are trying to make.

I understand Parsons and passing on Slater. But there was absolutely NO excuse in reaching a DB and DE with our 2/3 3rd rounder instead of using 1/3 third rounders on a OL.

Was praying for Sewell, expecting Surtain, but happy with Parsons.
Im more interested in breaking out the book on the rest of the draft and udfas,,, there is a lot of data to be mined.

The conspiracy claims as regards Collins are both amusing and pathetic.

Too early to say there was absolutely NO excuse, but if you are right than there will be a scapegoat, Quinn, McClay, someone will be blamed, that I can guarantee

Not on board with taking Slater. We made the absolute right selection, adding extreme talent to our defense.

We won 0 NFC championships and super bowls during this last period of great OL play. 0.

We need more defense...period.

Your post might be relevant if you explained. Otherwise, who cares what you think? Drive-by comments add nothing to the debate.

Yes its unfortunate over the next few years we'll start seeing a changing of the guard along the line. I do think if they're all mostly healthy we could have a very good line over the next couple of seasons. However, the development of Biadsz and Williams/McGovern will also be important.

Personally I didn't want Slater simply because I don't think he's a LT in the pros. Yes definitely can see him being a pro bowl guard and maybe some RT, but you usually don't draft those positions in the top half of the draft.

Hard to disagree with the results you posted. Old adage of Defense win championships still hold true in my books.
I do feel that we should have spent one of our 3rd on an OL. You can't have enough good OL especially knowing our injury history.

That same line that won absolutely nothing cause the D sucked. Now we have to start replacing them. Just a huge wasted opportunity.

How did Parsons help the offensive line?
At least with Pitts we would have an elite talent.
I was all on board with Sewell if he fell.

Im not the one complaining about the line. But if you were so horrified by the Line, then taking Pitts would have done nothing for us there.

As far as Parsons, you will be learning soon enough.

I already know all I need to know. He will be DROY
Parsons adds nothing to the OL any more than Pitts would.

You are the guy complaining about the Oline and then lobbying for Pitts.

Im the one complaining about defense and advocating, nailing the Cowboys taking Parsons.

Understand the difference?
