Said before and will say again, we are a better defense right now than last year. At least 50% coz of this guy......

werent people saying the same when we got Sherman? Werent people saying that when we added Nolan? We got a new coach? who cares. Did we get LT?

What scares me is them wanting to keep some things the same as last year. So what are we really going to get.
That system sucked. I know it was Nolan, and adding Quinn improves it overall right away. But somethings needed to be scrapped.

However, dropping DLaw in coverage did not seem to work. As a stand up rusher, did not seem to work. And dropping Armstrong in coverage was a disaster. They need to crap can that type of stuff.

Given the athletes that Quinn will have on the field - in some cases at the expense of sheer size - I hope he’s more willing to blitz than in years past.

When MM staff was brought in everyone said ehh OK guess Nolan was best he could do.

Quinn was an architect of legit defenses on both pro and collegiate levels.
If he can make this works remains to be seen but his reputation around the league is farrrr higher than that of Mike Nolan.

People that were happy with the Nolan hire were hitching their hopes on the job he did with the Saints LBs. Other than that, most knew what was about to happen, but were hoping for the best.

Every situation is different, and this draft was different from years past. Let’s see what he can do.

Nolan has a terrible reputation around the league as a DC. After the epic failure in Dallas, I doubt he ever gets another DC job in the NFL.

Mike McCarthy and Dan Quinn made real efforts to change their ways.
What are the odds we'll get the best of both of 'em?
OTOH, who really knows we won't?!

With all due respect, me and you could be coaches and be better than what we had last year
I would include MM in the conversation about the poor coaching last season. I didn’t really care one way or the other when MM was hired. I do remember the posters that was adamant about his Super Bowl win made him a great coach. To be brutally honest, he was no better than Garrett with his decision-making during games. Rodgers has said that MM had the lowest football IQ of any coach in the league. I really dislike Rodgers as a person, but MM did nothing to prove him wrong and he made several decisions that supported the claims made by a Rodgers. MM is the HC and he was seeing the Nolan catastrophe unfold week by week. I may have missed it, but I didn’t hear about MM helping Nolan with the mess n the defensive side of the ball. He allowed it to continue, which tells me a lot about MM as a coach.

Add his name to the long list. Nobody sees anything but demotions after Dallas. Or the outright end of their coaching careers.

MM had a major disadvantage last year. He had to play with dudes that he didnt really want.
