This unconditional hatred of Jaylon is getting out of hand.

He has been misused by most of his DC's and the one he had the most success with and played like an all pro was a student of his new DC.

If he still looks lost in Dan Quinn's defense then he can be cut or benched next year.

CB: Awuzie
FS: Woods
LB: Lee or Thomas
DL: A. Smith
DL: Crawford

I wish some one would step up and put Jaylon on the bench. Heck I wish the FO would grow a pair and cut him. Set a example.
Jaylon is ok in his space when not asked to do too much. He has however be gifted more than he has payed back. That all i'm going to say about that.

@Vinnie2u I only see one starter on your list, Awuzie.
The other 4 were never starters last year. Those other 4 could easily be replaced by the 2021 draft picks and UFAs. We will see new faces on defense.

I am with you on cutting Jaylon. Way too soft for a LB and can’t cover anyone.

I would add LVE to the good riddance players. He played like garbage last year and can’t stay healthy. No speed and can’t cover anyone.

There is little financial advantage to cutting Smith at this point. You save nothing on the cap, even as a June 1 cut. We aren't dripping with guys at LB that has some upside like he does. It makes sense to see if Quinn and Edwards can "fix" him and LVE before you toss them on the trash heap. More than likely, he gets cut next year but it makes sense to see if Quinn can get something out of him.

The bitterness some of you have for him is making you think crazy. The whole concept of cutting a player like Smith to "send a message" is bizarre. Smith is a popular player with the team. Cutting him now sends zero message.

So what's everyone else's fault that he intentionally dodges tackles and blocks, takes plays off, "swipes" after 9 yard gains from the offense, and acts like a complete fool.

Got it

I do not believe any of that is true ....... I think you dislike him and are exaggerating about his play.

He has played out of position most of his career. That has been a scheme problem

That's three starters and two rotational guys. But we should benefit from their departures.

Aldon Smith wasnt starting. Wasnt Gallimore starting at the end of the year?

I see 4 new starters as of right now. CB, FS, Linebacker are all upgrades. We will have to see who starts are DT.

Crawford was a very popular player. Collected $20M the past two years got no production.

Elliott is popular. Jaylon is popular. I will take production over popularity. But, popularity puts people in the seats. I guess.

Get rid of these popular but unproductive players.

I agree with you. He was not that type of linebacker they made him out to be. He plays bad and they don’t get the blame how they used him.

If it happens again then we’re wrong and he’s just not the same person anymore lol

Jaylon was terrible the last two years. Bad terrible. I didnt even think he deserved his pro bowl nod the year he got it. This defense would be much better served with him no longer on the team.

I do not agree ..., I think the defense would be much better served by using him to his strengths. He is fast and very strong and we have been trying to turn him into a finesse side to side player.

You mean you DONT WANT to believe any of that is true. Been watching it game after game for the last two years. Jaylon Smith wouldnt be good at ANY linebacker position.

You missed the point. He said we should cut Smith to "send a message". There is no message to send in cutting Smith. It makes sense if Smith was some sort of bad apple that cutting would help set a new tone in the locker room, but that's not the case here.

When you factor in the cap implications, there is no real reason to cut Smith at this point. Let Quinn mess with him for the season and see if they can turn him around. If not, cut him. Quinn isn't married to Smith or LVE for that matter when you consider they drafted Parsons and Cox, brought Neal in to play some LB and didn't pick up LVE's option. It seems clear these two guys have a year under Quinn to turn it around or they likely will be done.

You guys are letting emotions get in the way of what would be a rational move for the team.
