Half truth.
90% of the staff replaced.
Not sure that happened with any other team.
Check out the Giants then In our own division.

the results were not that different and all circumstances vary but dont bring in Carolina or WFT the records are all that count and not many teams that made wholesale changes last offseason were successful. There were other teams with a new headcoach and/or defensive coordinator. They all were handicapped as we were. We provided the worst results. Even after 1 year, someone had to go.
exactly!! one game beter does not make them successful at 7-9 vs 6-10 that all the matters. What team with an entire new coaching staff and brand new odd scheme without the payers to fit it were successful last season??The did but they also had the worst of the bunch.
For instance look at the Commanders......they did well with Rivera defensively but on offense they SUCKED.
Having new coaches in place reared its ugly head for most teams.
Not for the Browns it seems and maybe i'm missing another team.
Yeah, total flop of hope-for-best kind of signings. One other key factor that didn’t help was the atrocious failure that was the 2020 free agent class. Whoever played any role in that should hang their head in shame.
The team either got no contributions whatsoever from guys like Clinton-Dix and McCoy, or on-field performance and attitudes so poor that they decided they were better off without them like Poe, Worley, and Griffen. Things actually improved a bit AFTER those guys were jettisoned.
Players, for the most part, prefer a one-gap style because it allows them to attack at the snap. Some defenders are far more effective when careening towards a gap than they are while trying to read the offense. In the late 1990's, the Commanders signed DTs Dan Wilkinson and Dana Stubblefield, then used them in a scheme that emphasized two-gap responsibilities. The system negated the strengths of two super-athletic interior players, and the defense suffered as a result. (The coach responsible for the dubious decision: Mike Nolan, under the supervision of Norv Turner.)

Nolan was never that successful from what I see of his history. Failure on MM's part to count on him. He might not have had much choice but to pick him.Nolan has been known to be clueless about DL before. From a 2005 Mike Tanier article we have this:

i dont remember them all but none were truly a success..
The good ole boy system!Worse, I think it was a friend repaying the friend that gave him his first big opportunity.
I’m hopeful about this new collection of defensive players. But keep in mind that getting excited about guys “making plays” in a mini-camp in shorts and t-shirts can be deceiving. Especially with DL or LBs not in pads. All they can really show at this point is footwork which is something but the real test comes when the pads are on.
Mrs. Nolan, we’re sorry your husband sucked and got launched. Wait, I said we’re sorry???like he mentioned this isnt new Marinelli was very hands on and we saw JG working on the field all the time with players..so calm down with the excitement already lOL
hers the difference. Nolan did NOT HAVE AN OFFSEASON, most of his critics are unfairly judging this guy, as little as thee Rookie OTas, OTAS, MC, TC and PS seem, its the single biggest reason for the failure of Nolan getting is scheme installed with the correct players.. second reason Injuries..have to get to 3 for actual coaching..
sure he was let go as a lot of defensive coaches because of the unsuccessful season but IMHO given this full offseason im betting they would have had chance to improve a lot..
assessments of any plyer or coach last year truly is incomplete and unfair.. i mean of course the offense being for the most part status quo from 19 the defense tried to to change everything and how that on Nolan alone is just using him as scapegoat..
hers to having hope its going to be better..ill save my praise for Real game results not rookie OTAS
Exactly, situational awareness was lacking with his plan.Nolan should have known better than to try and do a complete overhaul given the circumstances of 2020. His biggest failure, IMO, was not recognizing that he didn't have enough time/practice to completely overhaul the defense.

Bahahahahaha just kidding. We’re glad he’s gone. Should’ve never been hired by his HC.
Yeah I don't know why people keep hyping up with the Giants and Commanders did. They stinked just like we did......exactly!! one game beter does not make them successful at 7-9 vs 6-10 that all the matters.
