It's hard to pull against the Cowboys. They were stocked across the board on offense with Aikman, Irvin, Emmitt, Novacek and the offensive line.

Our defense was great - but it was great because of Haley and the cohesive play of the whole unit. The Giants had stars in Carson, LT and Banks as a linebacking corp. and two of the greatest football minds in Parcells and Belichick. Our defensive weakness was that we had smallish players up front (Maryland and Jones, for example) and at linebacker (Edwards, Smith), and I think the Giants, even though not spectacular on offense, could eat up the clock as they did against the Bills.

So I can't say with certainty the Cowboys would have dusted the Skins or the Giants. I just think Gibbs was a better play caller and strategist overall, which is why I give the Skins at slight edge over the Boyz and the Giants. I mean, he took three teams with three different quarterbacks to Super Bowl wins. That has to account for something.

You and i agree like you said i cannot say with 100% certainty the boys would have dusted either the Giants or Commanders i think both games would have been close and coaching and scheme would have alot to do with it all three teams had great players

The '92 Cowboys- in a winner take all game- is the most dangerous NFL Football Team of All Time.

The reason?

They simply did not know how good they really were.

1) Complete lack of self awareness in it's fear of losing.

2) Amazing effort every snap. Hungry like no other team ever.

3) Talent and Speed everywhere.

Just an awesome football team. The team's they beat to get the ring was the toughest gauntlet of title contenders ever.

I'd rank them

1. Cowboys
2. Commanders
3. Giants
4. Eagles

Dallas was more complete and just destroyed Buffalo in the big one.

Yep. That was an impossible situation at that moment in time for that Cowboys team on Defense. They simply did not matchup. Then you add in the environment which was incredible. They had mike utley out there before the start. The decibel level was record high if I remember correctly at that time. Dallas linebackers and secondary were just not good enough in that game without big time pressure.

That game directly led to all those great defensive players being drafted/signed/traded for that offseason. Charles Haley, Kevin Smith, Darren Woodson, Robert Jones then they traded for Thomas Everett in october of 92. Jones ended up being the rookie of the year in 92.

That 92 defense was great and the 93 defense was also great, maybe a little bit better.

I still would love to know what would happen had Dallas got a shot at that 91 Commanders team.

They would have gone to and won the Super Bowl.

Detroit was the Joker in the deck Dallas could not match up with. If the Cowboys played the Commanders in the NFC Title Game they would have advanced.

However- I'm not sure where SF ended up in 91, but the Cowboys would have lost to them that year too. Not yet ready.

1992 Cowboys were the most talented, but the 1991 Commanders were probably the best team. The Buffalo Bills players from that era were virtually unanimous in calling that Commanders team the best they ever played against.

As a side note, the 1983 Commanders are probably the best team that didn’t win a Super Bowl. They just had one really bad day against the Raiders but they went 14-2 and won by an average of nearly 15 PPG that year.

I still think that '87 Commanders team was better than their '91 team.

Nah, they weren’t nearly as dominant. And the Broncos team they beat in the SB was a really weak conference champion by historical standards.

Give me a break ! i'm not gonna waste my time arguing with you, your right i never ever watched the 92 cowboys

If you never watched them, then how could you remotely judge whether or not the 92 team would dominate or not?

This reminds me of the tournament put together on ESPN classic with greatest super bowl champions going head to head.

I think the 1992 Cowboys are capable of winning against each team but they would be barnburner down to the wire. I think that these would be fun matchups. Miss the old days of the nfce being loaded.

That Broncos team was one of the worst super bowl teams to get there. Yet they were 3 point favorites.

Hands down...1992 Cowboys. They are recognized by most as the "Greatest NFL Team Ever " They usually lose out to the 72 Dolphins.

They would destroy any Brady team.

The quality and sheer depth of Dallas means they win IMO…
I’m picking Washington over New York for 2nd… The Commanders were a really well balanced team, and as painful as it was at the time, a good team to watch.
New York were brutal on defence, but until Danny White went down, they weren’t even the best team in the division.
Philadelphia come 4th.
