Outside of Cowboy Nation, are the Cowboys the Most Hated?

I think in an overall league wide sense they used to be because they won all the time. I think it’s faded significantly over the past few decades though.

I bet if you polled fans for every team, a division rival would be picked every time.

Here in Green Bay, the Bears hatred is much higher than the Cowboys.
While I agree the hate has faded significantly over the past few decades due to a lack of winning, IMHO the hate has actually increased, because people greatly resent the hype and attention given to an unsuccessful franchise. Plus, nowdays negative drama is comfort food for far too many profoundly disturbed morons.

I think all you have to do is consider the estimated size of the divisional fan bases and then factor in the size of any fan bases for big out of divison rivals.

Cowboys, Giants and Eagles are in the top 10 for estimated size of fan bases while no other division is quite that large. When also factoring in old rivalries for the Cowboys with the Steelers and 49ers there's a larger contingent of fans that are more likely to dislike the Cowboys.

The Patriots have to be close though, with the NY vs Boston rivarlies, and amongst some other AFC teams like the steelers, ravens, and other division rivals.

This is what fans of other teams and sports in general hate...all the nonsense and focus on this organization.

It’s 100% the Jones family that is hated. If some other family bought the team this year and we only heard from the coaches and from the owners on thanksgiving when they do a charity event the hate would go away in a season or two.

jerry has to have an opinion on everything and has to be on the radio and tv multiple times a week along with Stephen because they are ego maniacs. I know some think we’ll fans want information and they are giving the fans what they want, I think it’s the opposite. The Jones family wants to be on the radio and tv and wants constant discussions on the team.

All anyone wants is a winning team that doesn’t sign criminals and an organization that is focused on football. That is not the case here.

I will never understand fans who want Stephen and Jerry’s autograph. One of the saddest things I have ever seen was waiting outside the the stadium for the doors to open and Jerry’s helicopter landing and people rushing to the fence to get a glimpse of him. It’s amazing. After the first week it happened every week.

People hate the Jones family. The players here who play the game hard and focus on the game are given national respect. The organization is not.

I heard it said this morning that the Cowboys are the most hated NFL team. Is that true? Living in Texas, I don't see it. I've always thought that was either the 49ers or Steelers.

There are a lot of posters in this forum who only are able to think in two categories: LOVER and HATER.

Maybe because there are a lot more Cowboys fans like them (who are embracing intellectuality), the myth came up that the Cowboys are the most hated team.

But who knows.

They also hate the attention and the nickname (which came before the Jones family). Today, more than ever, people need someone to hate, someone to blame, and that usually includes those that get the most attention.

Most people live their life and dont care about the bigger picture. Just read the posts here on this website.

A lot of people buy new Jerseys of players. They get mad at others who question their behaviour because they dont support their team but only the revenue of the franchise and so JJ and SJ. Just read their answers. They say "1 bought Jersey doesnt make a difference for the Joneses" or "You are not a fan if you dont buy a jersey" etc...

People dont care, they dont want to or they cant. They want to live in their own bubble and dont want their dream and good feelings being questioned and maybe destroyed.

You cant blame JJ or SJ for their approach. They just figured out how the U.S. american economic systems works. And as a company owner all they do is try to maximize the revenue.
Of course you can question their approach behind that. And of course anybody with any kind of moral dignity knows that JJ and SJ are just the purulent pimples that this economic system promotes.

And you cant question people like the Joneses for their behaviour. Humans have the ability to fit their system. They just do (in the borders the system provides them) what is necessary to succeed. And success is defined by the system also. In the U.S. american economic system success means earning money. Not winning a Super Bowl or doing social things.

And also the U.S. economic system does not reward deep or meaningfull content. It values superficialities. It supports short-time entertainement: Things that gets you excited for 5 Minutes and then lets you get bored. So you need to move on to the next 5 Minutes of excitement. Because only this way it is possible to up revenue every year. And that is needed for the system to survive.

And all the Joneses do is give us that. And it seems they are very good at that (Forbes proves that every year). People who dont care about that just fit their blueprint of the so much needed customer: People who live their life by feelings and not by ratio. but have money and are willing to spend it on whatever their "god" tells them.

And that is your Joneses.

well needing something to point at and say I am better or smarter is nothing new, it’s always been that way.

people disliked the Cowboys because they played a lot of National games and were winning a lot before Jerry got here. They also have had their share of flashy players and put their cheerleaders above other teams.

still for all the dislike of those things and people griping about petty things like Landry’s hat, it would be greatly reduced if not gone if the Jones family was not running the show.

everyone gets National games now and thanks to Sunday ticket and gamepass anyone anywhere can watch any team today. Everyone is covered pretty much equally at this point.

Yes, it’s always been that way. It’s just more magnified now, and they are NOT covered equally. Dallas gets more coverage than a lot of teams. They also get better ratings than most, and they are still called America’s Team by many, like it or not.

Of course it is. And you can find those fans in every sport.
Fans of the FC Bayern for example will tell you exactly the same here in germany. Fact is most people in germany dont care about soccer at all nor do they about the FCB.

And seriously American football is not a big sport. Its a niche sport most people in the world dont even know about. You could argue with much more acknowledged sports like soccer, rugby, tennis or golf etc ... which have much higher attractions around the world. But still for those sports it would be the same myth to say this or that team or this or that player is the most hated.

Its just something that fans tell others so their team seems to be more important.
And of course the Joneses will support that image because felt importance will help them sell their product more easily.

Disagree. If you’re talking American football in America, Dallas IS the most polarizing. Your obvious hatred of the Jones family colors your outlook.

12 billion doesn’t exactly qualify as a “niche sport”. . No sense debating this further—you won’t change my mind.

Central Jersey...

Seems like a huge melting pot of Giants, Eagles, and Cowboys fans. Not so many Jet or steelers fans

Cowboys Giants Jets despise the trash Eagles fans
Eagle fans hate the cowboys

I go to the Giants/ Cowboys games. Never really seen a problem of people not getting along. Was there two years ago(black cat game) and half the stadium had to be Cowboys fans

Cowboys / Eagles you couldn't pay me to go too. It's a shame cause the philllies games complete opposite. Awesome stadium, great crowds and good times. Like complete opposite experiences

It would suck to only have that perspective of the Cowboys. Thankfully we got to witness much better days.
Yes we did, hopefully it gets turned around, it is a sad not having a total picture, 60s, 70s, 80's and most of the 90's were a joy to watch good and bad, a great legacy and great players.

not sure why you would be afraid to go to the linc. The days of the 700 club and a stadium full of rough drunks is basically over everywhere in the nfl.

I had no problems seeing Dallas play in New York or at the vet.

parking lots are a different situation obviously but as long as you were not instigating anything i imagine you would be fine.

nfl stadiums are filled with people with their kids, families etc...people who have to get up and work the next day for the most part.

the only old school wild crowd left I think is in Buffalo because they have not been able to find a way to price everyone out yet.

Old Vet Stadium had a jail! Philly has “Dallas Week” seven days prior to our matchups. They sell “Dallas Sucks” T-shirts. They threw snowballs at Cowboy players and coaches, many containing batteries. They booed Santa Claus, drunken fights, etc., etc., etc. My brother saw a Dallas fan rolled in a ball on the bathroom floor, while six or seven guys took turns kicking him in the slats. One kicker was a businessman in a suit! Insanely jealous and drunk is a Philly tradition.
