This will go over the head of most of those who do not like Lawrence and/or his contract, but..

When you're evaluating his sack numbers, you have to look at his support cast--especially the interior DL. As he's had a 10 ten pass-rush win rate the last 5 years, it means he is beating his man on the OL. Why isn't he getting home more often then? Well, without collapse of the pocket or consistent right side pressure, the QB can simply step up into the pocket or roll-out right to buy more time.
I was one of his biggest critics early on and I've been a full defender of his since. People like to look at just sacks or look at our defense as a whole and paint him as a large portion of that problem.

You think Lawrence looks bad on tape?

From what I saw, yeah. He hardly impacted any games even going one on one against average OL. I will see if I can find 2020 highlights of him somewhere.

I admit I am probably biased a little since I never thought he deserved his contract and putting off surgery until he got paid was not good in my book.

funny reading that anyone on the cowboys defense was an "elite" run defender....i guess the fact that he can suck up 2-3 blockers at any given time is big...too bad the other defeneders couldnt capitalize on it.
I don’t recall seeing Lawrence get tripled too many times and I’m not sure I saw him get doubled often either. Pretty much every RT was able to handle him 1-1 FWIR.

If you're having salary cap problems I feel bad for you son. We got 99 problems and DLaw ain't one.

this defense can have a massive turnaround. Having new dt and Gregory at the other edge w new linebackers dlaw could go back to his old sack stats
Bet you a case of Shiner he doesn’t. He doesn’t have it in him. He enjoys dancing with RT’s.

Not so much. He’s been a monster since he came into the league. Lawrence had one decent season then extorted the Cowboys. He’s sucked since he got paid. I HATE Boise State players and we better be done taking their lame *****.

so he's still the 3rd highest paid While Dlaw is ranked 4th. Mack had 2.5 more sacks then lawerence in 2020 and 3 more in 2019

He has 2 less than Mack in 2020
he had 3 less than Mack in 2019
They both started in 2014 - Mack has 70.5 and DL has 45.5. Do the math. I’d take Mack over DL every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

did I say would you take him over him? Demarcus signed his contract in 2019 , Mack over the last 2 years has been pretty much the same player as DLaw. Mack signed his deal 2018

I hope he can in this New defense. We’ll find out if it’s the players from the previous regime.

Agreed,

I always love hearing fans complain "Amari and D-law are paid to be fringe top 3 in the league and there only fringe top 8"

It's like seriously ? Being fringe top 8 instead of fringe top 3 for both isn't even a top 50 concern for this team.......

And I notice this with this fanbase....a lot of them don't watch anything outside of Dallas or have any idea what's going on outside of the Cowboys.

So you rarely get a fair critique of our players. We are a far cry from the years where Demarcus Ware was getting 15 sacks a season........
That happens alot.

Reminds me of people in 2019 calling Tyron a "penalty machine" when he literally had less penalties than 7 out of the 8 left tackles that made the pro bowl....... (lmao).

Sacks are always volital from year to year depending on what's going on with the team (outside the particular player's capability).

Shaquil Barrett, for example, went from a crazy league leading 20 sacks in 2019 to 8 in 2020. You think TB is mad at their investment ($17M)?
Very good point.

With a full season of Randy on the other side and some juice in the middle of the line he should get a lot closer to double digit sacks in 2021. He’s relentless.
He is in a good place to lead the new guys and get back to making big plays.
