One could mention some Cowboys players who somehow stayed on the team for years after they should have been tossed.
Other players in the NFL have gotten a lot of ink for doing rather little.
Now saying Tebow is below average is frankly your hatred clouding your judgement. The guy was a starting QB in the NFL for multiple games. THAT alone makes him somewhat above average.
It really doesn't.

It was a serious question. I don't understand how Tebow commands respect. He refused a position change even though it was obvious he was never going to be more than a circus type show at QB. What am I supposed to respect him for? I know you think I'm being sarcastic. I am not. Serious question.

The "like me as a poster" stuff is weird.
What a clown comment. You respect him because he is a great guy. Does a ton to service his community and others in need. He is also arguably the best college football player of his generation. A class act. You can’t respect that? A total clown show.

Wow something so easily proven and you cannot admit it

Look at all the QBs over the last 20 years that have started half a season or more games. Out of all the QBs who have started at least one regular season NFL game. Will even be generous and leave out the last game of the season from that list.

Guess what?

You are WAY wrong as regards what is average.

Since you've turned to personal insults, it appears you're aware that you've lost. Better luck next time!!!

Your statement was that he was average because he started a number of games. That statement is not accurate.

Geno Smith
Jarmarcus Russell
Ryan Leaf
Jameis Winston
Beathard
Trubiskey
Haskins
Colt McCoy
Nathan Peterman
Drew Lock
Brock Osweiler

There have been a ton of QB's who started multiple games who were below average. Your argument that this is what makes Tebow average is incorrect.

Tebow is tough to judge anyway as far as being average. He's a terrible passer, but at the same time moves the O pretty well at times and has a beautiful deep ball. I'd say calling him average is a judgment call.

Personal attacks? Man people are soft these days.
I thought your response was very soft. I prefer discussion and back and forth. It's pretty strange that you get so upset that someone doesn't agree w/ you about a polarizing figure. What upsets you so much?

Listen you asked about Tebow. I told you why I thought you should respect the guy. If you still refuse to see what I said then I don’t know what to say. I did notice that you proceeded to throw a bunch of likes my way. Perhaps that is some olive branch. Yet you started this and now I have to fend off other clowns because I am being mean or something. Whatever I said that I despise the Tebow haters and I stand by that. So any of you clowns want to try and pile on go right ahead.

Your claim at what is average is statistically false. I said by the way half a season or more. Which I do believe knocks some of those you mentioned off the list.
I said Tebow is probably slightly above average as a starting QB. You have no stats to disprove this.

You also had a very wide claim about professional athletes as a group and clearly you also were wrong there. I just used NFL starting QBs to at least give you some hope of being in the same galactic environment.

Tebow is Urban's all time favorite player to coach. If Tebow did well with the tryout and got a 1 year deal, then what exactly is the problem? He likely wont be on the 52 imo.

Ah, the old "Nuh uh" argument!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tebow had a short run of success. It was never repeated, never even close. If Tebow had turned out to be "average", he would've definitely been given another starting gig. He has 2,422 career passing yards and 17 TD's. If Tebow were even close to average, he'd have played a ton more.

There's your stats, completely disproven!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for your time!!!

I don't pay attention to whom I give likes to. None at all.

When you start a post w/ a silly disparaging remark, your message is instantly lost.

I respect Tebow for his off the field stuff. I simply pay very little attention to any player's off the field stuff. That appears to be where our disconnect is!!! Ah well, won't be the last time!!!!!!!

I'm not a Tebow fan, I'm not religious and I think its a likely a miscalculation to sign Tebow.

But I've decided to root for him. I tend to support people who are unfairly depicted, lied about and hated for no reason. And I like the long shot story, the older guy.

If Mickleson can beat the world's finest golfers on the world's toughest course...who knows?

Same. I can't hate on someone trying to make a buck. I feel the same about Dez or any other washed up player trying to make it back. Would be a cool story if he makes it.

You are under no obligation to respect him, but in fairness, because you thought it was obvious he was going to be a circus sideshow at QB doesn't mean he felt that way. I'm sure he felt he could be a quality NFL QB

Mathematically it does. There are only 32 starting QBs at anytime, but there are somewhere between 64 and 96 NFL QB's on active rosters, and quite a few more on practice squads, so being one of the 32 starters would indicate above average.

Now, if you want to limit the criteria to starting QB's only, then in that context I would agree he was below average.

I'm not sure why this is even being discussed anyway. A discussion about whether to root for him or not, or how he fits as a TE doesn't have anything to do with whether he was a top or bottom level QB.

He'd probably be able to walk on the field at Cowboys camp and be in the hunt for
TE2 at the end of day one... lol

Quick, without checking, name the top 2 TEs in Jacksonville not named Tebow.

But whatever.

He wouldn't walk on at Cowboys training camp even as TE3 at the end of day 1. 1 day is not enough to know what a guy who never played the position and has been away from the game 9 years can do, even if the competition isn't that strong. No way in the world he could beat out Jarwin (if healthy) or Schultz, and whoever is the #3 will probably need to be a strong blocker, which I doubt Tebow will be.

And would they really want to go with a 34 year old developmental guy over a much younger one?

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with Tebow, or any team giving him a chance. And Jacksonville may be one of the few teams so weak at TE that Tebow has at least an outside shot. But I believe he is a big long shot, even with Jacksonville. If he were with Dallas he likely would have to be on the practice team, if he even stuck at all.
