He doesn't even look undersized I don't know where that criticism came from lol.

I agree, Blake Jarwin is 6'5 260 and no one calls him undersized speed wise they are both 4.7 40 guys. Really outside of 5 pounds these guys are about the same. Difference so far has been Schultz played a full season and Jarwin hasn't

I think Jarwin looks bigger because he plays bigger. Schultz seems to play closer to the ground. Jarwin has the wide receiver background and he's up off his feet more which explains probably why he sees more injuries......

True, I know Schultz at Stanford played more of the traditional TE alignments where as Jarwin tended to lineup more as an inside WR. Size wise though they are both 6'5" with Schultz being 255 and Jarwin 260 speed wise about the same. I have no desire to knock Jarwin but I will say another difference is Schultz proved he could take the hits for a full season.

I have no idea why everyone assumes Jarwin is better than Schultz at this point.

One guy has done it. The other guy hasn't.

There's no disdain for Schultz. My issue is people think that Schultz' previous season is reason to usurp Jarwin or even put him on equal footing when talent-wise (and pay-wise) Jarwin is superior and coaches would be foolish not to get what they can out of him. It's great that we have a capable option behind Jarwin, but if you want the best players on the field, Jarwin is that guy if he's healthy and his numbers prove that which is why none of those folks are running the actual numbers or speaking to them when I bring them up.

I think people are just used to Witten's last few years and are happy that anyone at TE can offer YAC and are satisfied with that but Jarwin's going to get you more so you feature him to get all you can. Great that Schultz can offer production when Jarwin needs a breather but you're selling your offense short at TE if you're using Schultz to the detriment of Jarwin.

Jarwin is superior to Shultz? Thats over the top. We dont even know much about Jarwin. He had one good game his entire career.

Hard to prove anything with old mummy speed Witten taking away your snaps ..and when you finally do get the starting role, you get IR'ed for the year.

Hes 6'5 255lb. That's not undersized, and is about the average size for nfl tight ends.

Oddly Jarwin is " listed " as much bigger than Schultz, ..but does that playing weight translate into how he plays in line when it matters ? .
He's really plays like a buffed up WR playing the role of a TE, imo.

Neither one are really suitable in line edge run blockers. They won't be confused with a James Hanna, or Swaim in that area.
That's another reason why a 3rd TE candidate as a blocker will likely get simillar playing time and role as departed Blake Bell.

Has Jarwin never played a full season before?

Jarwin played all of 2018 and all of 2019. 4 and 7 starts and 11.4 and 11.8 ypc, respectively. Behind Witten in 2019. Shared duty with Swaim and Schultz in 2018 (Witten's retired year).

Ok I was gonna say I don't recall him being hurt at all until last year. Think its a bit early to say he can't play a whole season as a starter.

Yet folks are penning in Randy Gregory for 10-12 sacks having never played one.

CowboysZone!
Ain't that something lol? They pick and chose when they want to use those arguments lol.

I'm gonna give some Cowboy fans a spoiler alert....Blake Jarwin is the starting tight end and he's going to get more reps there than Schultz. So they can put their fantasy or whatever to rest.
