I can hear the Dak fans already..... "the team sucks when Foles is on the field. So what if he has a Lombardi, he's 4th tier compared to super Dak".

If anything he could teach Dak how to win big games. You know, those games where Dak fails to show up.

We all like Dak bro, you don’t have to pretend

I say draft a back up qb in the 6th every other year.... it really doesnt matter. If Dak goes down for any extended amount of time, our season is over. No way in hell would I trade for Foles if his cap hit is 7 million. 3 million? sign me up.

Why should Jason Garrett's rings bother him? Jason Garrett never came off the bench to replace him, did he?

They need to do something & move on from the 2 delinquents. DiNucci & Gilbert have a combined 80 career pass attempts, yielding a 52.5% completion percentage while averaging 5.2 yards per attempt last season.

Moore would have been a better option when Dalton went down. It's no secret Foles thrives as backup. Did you forget Garrett has 3 & it didn't hurt Dak's feelings. :p
Gilbert looked good against Pittsberg.

So what qualifies as a big game? All the ones Dak played lights out in just don't count?

Dak is 1-2 in the playoffs. In the first loss he passed for 302 yards and 3 touchdowns, before Aaron Rodgers embarassed our defense in the last seconds. And in the second loss the defense gave up almost 300 yards on the ground to the Rams.

Looks to me if you want Prescott to "show up" in big games, some more of his teammates had better do the same.

What do you mean if he's cheap? If we can pay an average quarterback 40 million, why can't we pay a super bowl winning quarterback?
Heck, if you pay Foles a lot he might come in the best shape of his life and care to win like our guys. you pay'em they want to win.

His cap hit is 4m$ In 2021 for anyone who trades for him. It’s 6.66m$ to the bears currently, which you wouldn’t be taking on the 2.66m$ prorated signing bonus. But his cap hit in 2022 is 8m$ if you keep him

Does any other team talk about their backup QB as much as Cowboys media and fans do?
Dak goes down for extended period of time, the season is over regardless. Dalton was pretty on par with Foles and he couldn’t save the season. Almost seems like it’d be of a tactical advantage to have a backup QB no one has much tape on if he has to fill in for a game or two.

what? the groupies said nobody could win with that defense and offensive line. Dalton was a superstar to have won any games with that team. dak had to have a one-in-a-million watermelon kick to register one win. That one win was his, it wasn't the teams. lol

He wasn't any good in Jacksonville and he couldn't beat out Trubisky, yet he would do well here as a backup? I don't think so.

Let the Bears have him. I doubt they are not going to make 3 QBs active on gameday. Fields will be active. So, it comes down to Dalton and Foles for the other slot on gameday.

I guess the Bears will wait and see if someone gets hurt and they can move Foles.

If it is a backup QB, I would go with a mobile QB. These statues in the pocket like Foles and Flacco won't do well as a backup in my opinion. Could have had Trubisky as a backup for less money.

" It's Elementary my dear Watson " .. Foles was expected to be the starter at Jax and Chi-Town ... He would not be expected to the starter here in Dallas.

Just like he was in Philly with Wentz, he would be backup to Dak ..

If all it costs is $7m and a 6th to get a year of Foles then you take it.

If Dak goes down would you rather have Rush/Gilbert or Foles out there? $7m is nothing for a veteran backup QB of quality.

It's 5 mill, 2 years. You're paying $4mill salary in 2021 and $1 mill for 2022.

It's close for me. I'm big on developing young QBs, so any veteran backup QB has some automatic downside to me.

What's the most you'd pay for Foles?

We got Dalton with a very cheap, no risk deal . didn't have to give up draft picks to get him and only committed minor QB money for just a one year rental .. for a vet QB with winning game experience - that was quite a deal .

- my question is at what price would we have to give up to obtain Foles ?
i wouldn't mind a late round pick - but no more than that.
Not ready for a mid round picks for a 32 yr old vet QB

- With Ben DiNucci, he just didn't have adequate time to develop and adjust to NFL.
No OTA's, very limited camp, no preseason, and he was wolf-thrusted into a game way too fast for him.
Too much to ask for a very green rookie.
