I just watched that entire series. Zeke's suspension really screwed us, but I found it ironic that the team started winning without Zeke and then lost and eliminated from the playoffs when Zeke returned.

Zeke definitely screwed us, but a big part of that was the fact that Garrett and Jones got completely blindsided by the suspension. This was CLEARLY one of Garretts worst years. One of many. Not only were they caught off guard, but during the suspension they didnt alter the offense in the least with Zeke's replacement. Until it was too late.

Every GM is usually featured pretty extensively though. So yeah, Jerry will be and it won't be unprecedented.

well the Cowboys have more media all year long by huge amounts than all other teams. How much attention did the 92-96 team have??? didnt seem to bother them on the field.

The team had a couple,of stumbles during that time - but it was not because of the media focus.
Take the '93 season: two losses at the start when Emmitt held out. Then the Thanksgiving game gaffe hosting the Dolphins. Add to that the previous Sunday - a two TD loss (14-27) on the road to the Falcons...when it was rumored that a number of Cowboys players partied late Saturday night into early Sunday morning at the well-known strip club "Magic City".
Could that team possibly had gone undefeated....especially how they handled their playoff opponents - defeated Packers 27-17, Forty-Niners 38-21, Bills 30-13.

Reading that was like a sneak peek of the future. I can see those scenes in my mind just as you described them. Space Cowboy Jones is a scary thought.

There were distractions the entire season. I’m not sure I’d say media attention specifically.
