Why do you like or dislike Dak?

The bigger point he’s making is Dak had an opportunity to sign a contract after year 3 with one year remaining on his Rookie contract but he passed. So he could have ended being underpaid with his Rookie contract.

I don’t recall the exact amount but was close to the 33 million ksboys mentioned.
But his rookie deal wouldn't have been voided....he signed a 4 year 2 million dollar rookie deal....had he signed a extension that deal still would've been in place.....its also rumors that he was offered a 33 million dollar deal. We have no idea what that deal involved or what incentives were in it.

He still would have only earned $2 million for the 2019 season because it was the 4th year of his 4 year contract. Signing a contract extension early does not replace the amount he is scheduled to earn for that season. It would only provide an opportunity for him to receive an advance of a portion of the amount he agreed to earn in the future. He chose not to extend early and didn't lose a dime in 2019.

In 2020, he played on the franchise tag for $31.4 million. So, he theoretically would have lost out on $1.6 million in 2020 (assuming the $33 mil offer per year is correct), but he held out and got $40 million per year in 2021, which is $7 million than the $33 million reportedly offered earlier.

He made more money the way he did it rather than extending early.

Here’s the deal offered …

But yes, it wouldn’t have voided his Rookie contract. But he would have already been under contract avoiding the Franchise Tag drama. Similar to how we extended Elliott.

And I’m not sure when he would have received the signing bonus.

Not to mention both sides said that money was not the holdup in the negotiations ...... It was years in the contact.

That doesn't change anything in my post. I wasn't arguing whether $33 million offer was correct or not. I assumed it was correct in my example and Dak still makes more money the way he played his cards rather than extending early for $33 million per year.
It appears marginal at best as this initial contract progressed over 40 million in year 3 iin 2022 to 46 million if you read thru it.

It’s very possible he could have renegotiated another contract 3 or 4 years in when the new collective bargaining agreement kicks in which is expected to escalate contracts. Which was a huge concern for Dak only wanting a 4 year deal.

If Dak had signed that contract and then made 40-45 mil in the season after that contract, he would've made more. It's simply not true that he made more by holding out. He made less by around 2 mil.

The bigger point is there was respectable contract offered to Dak which would have avoided the drama and franchise tag, etc.

I understand why he didn’t take. All part of the business at hand. Did it work out for him financially. Yes, but he risked a career ending injury.

And the gains financially could be described as marginal especially when you consider his image being tainted for tough negotiations, limiting cap for more surrounding support and more pressure to carry the team.

He didn't take it due to greed.

It's just fuzzy accounting which advances him money from a contract extension. It's all about what he is able to earn, regardless of how the team and the player dictate when the money is going to be paid. The way Dak played his cards will pay him considerably more money than him accepting a contract extension in 2019.

Sure . But in the end he obviously had the leverage. Business is driven by greed. The ones with more leverage often use it.

But no doubt Dak could have avoided the mess and bad publicity and came out with a much better image with similar money. It is what it is.

Not always. The thought that greed is good is not necessarily true. There is much more to life than the dollar.

Understood but greed is a driving force in business. You need to want what your competition has. And need to want more of your employers share. It’s common to look after your interest first.

I’d agree that he could have attained what he wanted with a better image and more friendly team deal at the time but he chose to play hard ball. In the end he had the leverage. That’s business.

I don’t fault him for that. But we can hold him more accountable if it doesn’t work out.

He is also a brilliant reader of defenses, although he probably needs to take more chances down the field. Prescott’s average depth of target ranks only 25th among all quarterbacks with at least 500 dropbacks since 2016 — his rookie season. This is the big area where he can still grow. He also needs to feel a little more confident pulling the trigger on tighter windows deep downfield.”

...and this season, the offensive line is back and the team has greased the downfield threats, significantly.

I hear what your saying K. But to expect these players to place the intent of the team ahead of their interest isn’t realistic IMO.

Take care of me first then I’ll do the best I can for the sum. But winning isn’t more important than making money.

There was a time in sports when winning directly correlated with success. I’m not sure that’s always true now. There never a guarantee when your last play could be and career over. You must get the money while you can.

Team loyalty on the most part is out the door. And thats not all of the players fault. They didn’t create the atmosphere and culture with the Cap, etc in today’s era.

I hear ya though cause you’re trying to win championships and you see the damage done. And what aides a better situation for the sum which unfortunately isn’t always the players priority.

And I can’t blame them for that. It’s up to the teams Mgmt to make that all work financially . The goal of a player is to maximize their personal situation cause in the end the franchises will dump them without regard.

I wish it wasn’t this way but it is what it is.

No need for elaboration if you don't want, but I'd like to see if you can name one play or moment that swayed you to like or dislike Dak as a player.
My moment was when he was on the bench and he threw his Gatorade cup to the trashcan and missed. He stood up, picked it up and put it in the trashcan. That was the moment that I started rooting hard for him.

When I read your posts, I wonder if you can only distinguish between these two extremes.

I mean, you're leaving out no way to emphasize how high your IQ is. I work every day with people who have higher IQ than you. None of them argue as unrationally as you do.

Aren't you able to understand that people who make negative arguments against Prescott have nothing against him in persona? Why do you constantly have to deliver these undifferentiated posts that are nothing more than an attempt to divide us as fans?
