I don’t recall the exact amount but was close to the 33 million ksboys mentioned.
Bull ....... It was never released what they offered and the amount was always conjecture.

But his rookie deal wouldn't have been voided....he signed a 4 year 2 million dollar rookie deal....had he signed a extension that deal still would've been in place.....its also rumors that he was offered a 33 million dollar deal. We have no idea what that deal involved or what incentives were in it.The bigger point he’s making is Dak had an opportunity to sign a contract after year 3 with one year remaining on his Rookie contract but he passed. So he could have ended being underpaid with his Rookie contract.

Exactly. Straight rumor and myth.Bull ....... It was never released what they offered and the amount was always conjecture.
He still would have only earned $2 million for the 2019 season because it was the 4th year of his 4 year contract. Signing a contract extension early does not replace the amount he is scheduled to earn for that season. It would only provide an opportunity for him to receive an advance of a portion of the amount he agreed to earn in the future. He chose not to extend early and didn't lose a dime in 2019.The bigger point he’s making is Dak had an opportunity to sign a contract after year 3 with one year remaining on his Rookie contract but he passed. In 2020, he played on the franchise tag for $31.4 million. So, he theoretically would have lost out on $1.6 million in 2020 (assuming the $33 mil offer per year is correct), but he held out and got $40 million per year in 2021, which is $7 million than the $33 million reportedly offered earlier.
He made more money the way he did it rather than extending early.
That doesn't change anything in my post. I wasn't arguing whether $33 million offer was correct or not. I assumed it was correct in my example and Dak still makes more money the way he played his cards rather than extending early for $33 million per year. Here’s the deal offered …

But yes, it wouldn’t have voided his Rookie contract. But he would have already been under contract avoiding the Franchise Tag drama.
I haven’t seen the denials .Again this is conjecture on Clarence Hill's part that Mike Florio lazily gobbled up.
Both sides denied this report.
It appears marginal at best as this initial contract progressed over 40 million in year 3 iin 2022 to 46 million if you read thru it.That doesn't change anything in my post. I wasn't arguing whether $33 million offer was correct or not. I assumed it was correct in my example and Dak still makes more money the way he played his cards rather than extending early for $33 million per year.
If Dak had signed that contract and then made 40-45 mil in the season after that contract, he would've made more. It's simply not true that he made more by holding out. He made less by around 2 mil. That doesn't change anything in my post. I wasn't arguing whether $33 million offer was correct or not. I assumed it was correct in my example and Dak still makes more money the way he played his cards rather than extending early for $33 million per year.
He didn't take it due to greed. The bigger point is there was respectable contract offered to Dak which would have avoided the drama and franchise tag, etc.
I understand why he didn’t take. All part of the business at hand. Did it work out for him financially. Yes, but he risked a career ending injury.
And the gains financially could be described as marginal especially when you consider his image being tainted for tough negotiations, limiting cap for more surrounding support and more pressure to carry the team.
It's just fuzzy accounting which advances him money from a contract extension. It's all about what he is able to earn, regardless of how the team and the player dictate when the money is going to be paid. The way Dak played his cards will pay him considerably more money than him accepting a contract extension in 2019.If Dak had signed that contract and then made 40-45 mil in the season after that contract, he would've made more. It's simply not true that he made more by holding out. He made less by around 2 mil.
Sure . But in the end he obviously had the leverage. Business is driven by greed. The ones with more leverage often use it.He didn't take it due to greed.
Not always. The thought that greed is good is not necessarily true. There is much more to life than the dollar.Sure . But in the end he obviously had the leverage. Business is driven by greed. The ones with more leverage often use it.
But no doubt Dak could have avoided the mess and bad publicity and came out with a much better image with similar money. It is what it is.
Understood but greed is a driving force in business. You need to want what your competition has. And need to want more of your employers share. It’s common to look after your interest first. Not always. The thought that greed is good is not necessarily true. There is much more to life than the dollar.
I hear what your saying K. But to expect these players to place the intent of the team ahead of their interest isn’t realistic IMO.Not always. The thought that greed is good is not necessarily true. There is much more to life than the dollar.
No need for elaboration if you don't want, but I'd like to see if you can name one play or moment that swayed you to like or dislike Dak as a player.
My moment was when he was on the bench and he threw his Gatorade cup to the trashcan and missed. He stood up, picked it up and put it in the trashcan. That was the moment that I started rooting hard for him.
